This chapter introduces you to Agile PLM Administrator, the Java Client module that helps you configure and customize all Agile PLM solutions.
Welcome to Oracle's Agile PLM Administrator Guide for Agile Product Lifecycle Management (Agile PLM, or PLM).

This manual is the primary handbook for Agile PLM administrators. It is a comprehensive reference for setting up users and business objects in PLM. The Agile PLM Administrator Guide documents most of the nodes in the Administrator user interfaces ("Admin" UI specifics are discussed in the next chapter).
However, the administrator must access other manuals in the Agile PLM documentation set for many situations, as listed below.
ACP is a separate utility that enables the administrator to propagate changed Administrator settings from a Test system to the Production system. The ACP utility has its own manual, Agile PLM Configuration Propagation Guide, which covers installation and use by the Agile administrator.
Agile PLM's Recipe & Material Workspace (RMW) is a robust solution for pharmaceutical development companies. RMW administration and configuration is documented in a standalone manual, Agile PLM Recipe & Material Workspace Administrator Guide.
Getting Started with Agile PLM is more than a "primer" for the PLM end-user, as it contains in-depth information about features and functions that are common to all PLM solutions. The Agile administrator will find the Agile PLM Getting Started Guide to be an indispensable reference of many features in PLM, including:
Terminology and concepts used in the Agile PLM solutions;
General features such as:
Searches,
Workflows,
Reports,
Attachments and File Management;
The user interfaces and operation of Java Client and Web Client:
PLM administrators generally use Java Client to set up and manage the Agile system; therefore, before starting on the present manual (Agile PLM Administrator Guide), examine Chapter 3, "Navigating in Agile Java Client" in the Agile PLM Getting Started Guide;
Most PLM users work in Web Client; some administration tasks can be done in Web Client, for example, creating users; Chapter 2, "Navigating in Agile Web Client" in Agile PLM Getting Started Guide is recommended.
Most user guides for the PLM solutions contain a chapter (or appendix) for the administrator. These chapters deal with specific settings and configurations for each solution, and are mandatory reading for each solution purchased by your company.
For instance, every installation of PLM includes the solution called Product Collaboration. In the Agile PLM Product Collaboration User Guide, there is a chapter dedicated to the Agile administrator, not the end-user. The main solutions in Agile PLM are listed in the next section.
The Agile administrator should also become familiar with the end-user documentation of PLM solutions. The manuals for end-users contain valuable information that assist the Agile administrator in grasping what the solution is all about and what the user experience incorporates.
The Agile Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) suite provides the following product solutions that are accessed through Java Client and/or Web Client:
Agile Product Collaboration (PC) - Management and collaboration of product record information, including Model Option BOMs using Variant Management, throughout the product lifecycle, across internal organizations and the extended supply chain.
Agile Product Portfolio Management (PPM) - Integration of project and product information in the context of overall product development in order to streamline business processes across the product portfolio and lifecycle.
Agile Product Quality Management (PQM) - Management of customer, supplier and product quality issues, tied to the product design through a closed loop corrective action process.
Agile Product Cost Management (PCM) - Management of product costs across the product lifecycle and synchronization of product cost and cost processes with both internal and external participants.
Agile Product Governance & Compliance (PG&C) - Management and tracking of all substances and materials contained by any item or manufacturer part, allowing companies to meet substance restrictions and reporting requirements, design recyclable products, minimize compliance costs, and eliminate noncompliance on future products.
Agile Engineering Collaboration (EC) - Management of CAD design data from the engineer's desktop directly in a central PLM product record, automating both the design and product BOM change processes and supporting IP reuse.
Agile Recipe & Material Workspace (RMW) - The Recipe & Material Workspace solution enables companies to create products, improve business productivity, visibility, scientific outcomes, and proactive compliance during the product development lifecycle.
Agile Enterprise Visualization - Visualization, markup, and analysis of native documents (office, image, drawing, and CAD) through the Web across the extended enterprise, without the need for the original authoring tool or conversion to a neutral format.
Again, there are separate user guides for each product solution listed above, and most contain a chapter for the Agile administrator. (Exceptions are Agile PLM Product Quality Management User Guide and the RMW user guides; also, Agile RMW has its own Agile PLM Recipe & Material Workspace Administrator Guide.)

Write Attachment Export History
Autovue Client Start up delay (in seconds) – specifies the delay before the system assumes that the start up of the AutoVue client has failed. See "Default Systemwide Preferences."

New features for Agile PLM 9.3.5 include:
A new Change object tab, which allows the user to release a set of Designs on a single change order with workflow capabilities.
Prior to 9.3.5, Designs use a routing slip that lacks workflow capabilities. The routing slip approves only one Design, not a set of related Design objects. A set of Designs can be released on a single change order by using related Items.
The 9.3.5 release allows a set of Designs to be put on a change order using a new Affected Files tab (without having related items). Design files are added to the change order Affected Files tab, where they can be redlined and updated. This allows designers to route multiple designs for approval without having to first create items. Approvers can review the entire set of designs and approve using one signature.

Improvements to the Gantt client in Project Portfolio Management (Agile PPM).
These improvements include managing Multiple Projects, adding Project Navigator in GANTT, adding Filtering in GANTT, verifying Modify Privileges, and improving the Task Assignment view.

Administration
LargeText is a new attribute type for Page Two and Page Three tabs.
LargeText attributes have a default length of 60,000 characters and a maximum length of 2,000,000 characters. See "Defining LargeText Attributes."
LargeText attributes can be edited with a configurable HTML editor. See "HTML Features." See also Agile PLM Getting Started Guide.
AutoVue streaming files can be pre-generated. See "Specifying Supported File Types for AutoVue for Agile."
The Agile Product Cost Management preference Price Scale has been maximum settings has increased from 6 decimal places to 9 decimal places. See "Default Systemwide Preferences." See also Agile PLM Product Cost Management User Guide.
Agile PLM Product Portfolio Management now has the ability to create multiple work day management calendars.
A new Calendar Configuration function is accessed in Web Client through Tools and Settings > Calendar, and opens the Calendar Configuration dialog. For detailed information about configuring calendars, see Agile PLM Product Portfolio Management User Guide.
A new User profile attribute, Preferred Calendar, has been added. See "User Properties Defined."
A new privilege, Calendar Administrator, has been added. See "Default Agile PLM Privileges."

Administration
New Administrator reports regarding user history actions; see "Administrator Reports."
The Attachments Accessed by User Report shows all attachment history actions performed by a user within a time period. The user running the report selects a Date Range and one or more User Names, or All Users. Attachment actions include Get File, View File, Add File, Remove File, Checkout, and Checkin.
The Attachment History Report shows all attachment history actions from a set of objects, either individually selected or based on a search. The user running the report selects a set of objects or a search.
Get File and View File privileges apply to thumbnail images: A user must have Get File of View File privilege for an attachment file in order to view the associated thumbnail.
New privileges introduced: Add to Table and Delete from Table. These new privileges provide additional methods to control when users can add or remove from tables, including Attachments tables. See "Add to Table and Delete from Table Privileges."
Improved File Transfers - up to 16 GB file sizes are supported. In Web Client, new File Upload Selector, File Upload Manager, and web browser-based file download capabilities are introduced. The Advanced File Loader has been eliminated in Web Client. See "Administrator Settings for File Upload and Download."
In order to configure the new Web Client file transfer capabilities, the following Administrator settings have been added or modified:
Allow Download of Productivity Components preference has been updated. The user profile File Productivity Preference has been eliminated. See "Allow Download of Productivity Components.".
Updated systemwide preferences: Allow Download of Productivity Components no longer applies to Web Client file transfer capabilities.
ECR Redlining: Redlining is now enabled on ECR Attachments tab. This is similar to Ad-Hoc redlines that have previously been available on File Folders.ECR redlining allows users to specify potential changes to documentation as part of the standard ECR process.
Revision-Specific Relationships: This is an optional feature. When Revision-Specific relationships are enabled, Item relationships can be specific to a selected specific revision, All revisions, or the Latest revision. See Chapter 43, "Administering Revision-Specific Relationships."

Administration
Approval Matrix capability added to Agile PLM. In the routable object Workflow table, this feature enables you to automatically assign Approvers, Observers, Acknowledgers, and Notified Upon Entry users by their job functions. For more information, see "Administering Approval Matrix."
New Administrator Reports to manage the Approval Matrix feature. for more information, see "Running Approval Matrix Reports."
Acknowledger signoff action added to the routable object Workflow tab. An Acknowledger user signs off the routable object to indicate that he is aware of the content of the routable object.
Audit screen improvements. The Web Client workflow Audit screen has been enhanced. When the user clicks an error or warning link in the audit screen, Agile PLM navigates to the attribute, table cell, or object where the issue can be fixed. See "Pass Release Audit."
New preference Multiple Report Restriction. See "Default Systemwide Preferences."
New preference Maximum BOM Reports Results. (Previously, this BOM limit was set in the agile.properties as report.maxStandardBOMReportsResults.) See "Maximum BOM Report Results Limit."
Renamed Non-BOM (Maximum Reports Results as Maximum Non-BOM Reports Results. See "Maximum Non-BOM Report Results Limit."
User Experience
Form tabs (for example, Title Block or Cover Page) can be configured as a one-column displays or two-column displays by setting the Multicolumn Display system preference. Attribute sizes are set to Small, Medium or Large to accommodate the two-column display. See "Multi-Column Layout on a Web Client Form Tab."
The Navigator capability has been expanded to additional object tabs. Additionally, navigator capability has been expanded to additional object classes: Changes, PSR, QCR, Part Groups, Declarations, Specifications, and Sourcing Projects.
Descriptions in Recently Visited: The links in the Recently Visited list now display the object description in addition to the object number or name.
Agile Recipe & Material Workspace (RMW) is a significant addition to the PLM suite of enterprise solutions. The configuration of the RMW solution begins in PLM Administrator, then is furthered and managed by its own administrative capability within Web Client.
Agile PLM Recipe & Material Workspace Administrator Guide's Chapter 2 provides details of the PLM Administrator settings and configuration of PLM business objects that are used by RMW.
These settings and objects include:
Administrator privilege mask AppliedTo selection, "Recipe & Material Workspace Admin";
Privilege mask, "Recipe & Material Workspace UI Access", and privilege type, "Recipe & Material Workspace Access";
Items subclasses called Material Subclass and Recipe.

The Web Client Administrator has a Tab Display Configuration node available. For more information, see "Administrator Functions in Web Client."
The Account Policy node has an additional field for Maximum Password Age and new Password Rules.
Dynamic Lists available based on criteria.
Item subclasses of Model and Option Class have been added.
Oracle Access Manager (OAM) support for SSO
Another certified LDAP server is supported: Oracle Internet Directory (OID) Server.
The Export privilege is now divided in two: Export and Export Without Attachments.
The AppliedTo attributes for the Administrator privilege mask have been expanded to include several more attributes.
A Workflow status property of Password Required is available to regulate approvals with or without a password entry.
A Display No Privilege Fields privilege to regulate who can see attributes on an object according to privilege assignments.
There is a Change Password Upon Next Login option to force a user to change their password the next time the user logs in to Agile.
The major feature enhancement in administrator is the Events framework for automated process extensions, script process extensions, and flexible notifications. The Event Management node folder has been added to System Settings, containing six new nodes. For more information, see"Event Management," and "Notifications."
Web Client Administrator has many new features and has undergone a significant User Interface redesign. For more information, see "Administrator Functions in Web Client."

Several new roles have been added. For a list of available roles, see "Roles."
There are eight new preferences available including Agile Drive and Thumbnail Support. For more information, see "Systemwide Preferences."
The Programs base class has been changed to Projects to be more consistent with industry standards.
API Name: See "API Name."
Locations now has an Online Help Manuals URL field to access Online Help Manuals and User Productivity Kit (UPK) content. For more information, see "Locations and File Management."
Portals is no longer supported in Agile PLM 9.3 and the Portals tab has been removed from Locations.
Install and test this release on a designated Development server before installing it on your Production environment. Your Development environment should mirror your Production environment as closely as possible to provide accurate testing results.
It is important to validate the installation of this release, and to confirm your integrations are working correctly as part of your due diligence. Any problems or questions noted during your Development system testing should be resolved before installing this release on your Production environment.
