Major new features in Oracle Database Appliance X6-2S, X6-2M, and X6-2L in release 12.1.2.11.0.

What’s New

Oracle Database Appliance 12.1.2.11.0 release includes support for new features and Oracle Database Bundle Patch.

The following enhancements are available:

  • Update Grid Infrastructure to 12.1.0.2.170418.

  • Oracle Database Bundle Patch 12.1.0.2.170418 and 11.2.0.4.170418.

  • Support for Oracle KVM virtualization for Linux applications, enabling you to create isolation between your database and applications. It is not supported to run Oracle database in a guest VM with KVM environment.

  • Support for Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel Release 4 (UEK R4) for Oracle Linux.

    UEK R4 is the operating system kernel for Oracle Linux 6.8 and includes new features in the IO stack, better disk scsi error handling, enhanced core kernel functionality and cryptography, improved support for file system and storage, and support for the latest MPT3SAS Linux drivers.

Note:

Re-imaging a server using the Oracle Database Appliance ISO image installs the new OS on the local disks on that server. You must apply the patch to update ILOM, BIOS, Controller, Expander, disk firmware, and other components.
