Display Forecast (DFCS)

Purpose: Use this menu option to review a forecast projection for a specified offer and optionally drop.

Forecast Inquiry Screen

Use this screen to define the offer and drop whose forecast you wish to review.

You must select an offer and drop combination that exists in the Forecast table, or an error message indicates Forecast not found.

• If you define an offer and no drop, the system advances you to the Display Forecast by Offer Screen (across drops), where you can review forecast projections for the offer across all drops.

• If you define an offer and drop, the system advance you to the Display Forecast Screen (by drop), where you can review forecast projections for the offer and drop.

How to display this screen: Enter DFCS in the Fast path field or select Display Forecast from a menu.

Field

Description

Offer

The offer whose forecast you wish to review.

Offer codes are defined in and validated against the Offer table; see Working with Offers (WOFR).

Alphanumeric, 3 positions; required.

Drop

The number assigned to the mailing whose forecast you wish to review.

Alphanumeric, 2 positions; optional.

Display Forecast by Offer Screen (across drops)

Purpose: Use this screen to review forecast projection information for the specified offer, across all drops defined for the offer.

For each period in the forecast, the system displays:

• the projected:

• number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 1

• the number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 2

• the number of orders and total order dollars across forecasting order categories 1 and 2

• the actual:

• number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 1

• the number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 2

• the number of orders and total order dollars across forecasting order categories 1 and 2

• the difference between the projected number of orders and total order dollars and the actual number of orders and total order dollars

Forecast order category names: The names that display for forecasting order categories 1 and 2 are defined in the following system control values:

Field

Description

Offer

The offer whose forecast information you are reviewing; this is the offer you defined at the Forecast Inquiry Screen.

Offer codes are defined in and validated against the Offer table; see Working with Offers (WOFR).

Alphanumeric, 3 positions; display-only.

Period

The start date and end date of a period in the forecast projection.

The days in a forecast period are determined by the # of Days in Forecasting Period (B96) and First Day of a Forecasting Period (B99) system control values.

For each forecast period, the system displays:

• the projected and actual number of orders for forecast order category 1, forecast order category 2, and combined.

• the projected and actual total order dollars for forecast order category 1, forecast order category 2, and combined.

• the variance between the projected numbers and dollars and the actual numbers and dollars.

The projected number of orders for forecast order category 1.

This is the number of orders defined in the Orders - Category 1 field in the Forecast Detail table.

Variance ord

The difference between the projected number of orders and the actual number of orders for the period.

A value of 100.00 indicates no variance exists between the projected number of orders and the actual number of orders.

Calculation

The system uses the following calculation to determine the variance between the projected number of orders and actual number of orders: actual orders combined / projected orders combined x 100 = variance orders for the period

Example:

actual orders = 2

projected orders = 10

(10 / 2) x 100 = 20

The difference between the projected merchandise order total and the actual merchandise order total.

A value of 100.00 indicates no variance exists between the projected order dollars and actual order dollars.

Calculation

The system uses the following calculation to determine the variance between the project order total and the actual order total: (actual $ total combined / projected $ total) x 100 = total variance $ for the period

Example:

actual $ total combined = 20

projected $ total combined = 25

Select Actual by Day for a forecast period to advance to the Display Actual Data by Day Screen (across drops).

Review a summary of the forecast

Select Summary to advance to the Display Forecast Summary Screen (across drops).

Display Forecast Screen (by drop)

Purpose: Use this screen to review forecast projection information for the specified offer and drop.

For each period in the forecast, the system displays:

• the projected:

• number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 1

• the number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 2

• the number of orders and total order dollars across forecasting order categories 1 and 2

• the actual:

• number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 1

• the number of orders and total order dollars for forecasting order category 2

• the number of orders and total order dollars across forecasting order categories 1 and 2

• the percentage of variance between the projected number of orders and total order dollars and the actual number of orders and total order dollars

The system uses the following calculation to determine the variance between the projected number of orders and actual number of orders: actual orders combined / projected orders combined x 100 = variance orders for the period
