About Modifying the Work Breakdown for Subcontractors
Enter the budget for a project on the Enter Work Breakdown (WB) page. The WB can include line items showing a full breakdown of the work you expect to perform on the project. Only users assigned the Project Manager role and manage project permissions can edit a WB.
As a Subcontractor, you have the following budget management options available after you confirm a contract:
- View WB: View or review the current budget
- Modify WB Amounts: Change the budget without a variation.
See Reallocating Budget Amounts to a New Line for Subcontractors or Reallocating Budget Amounts to an Existing Line for Subcontractors. Edit WB Tab of Subcontractor Work Breakdown.
- Reallocate line item amounts without changing the overall contract value
- Add or delete lines with no subcontracts tied to them (unassigned)
- Allocate Variations: Adjust your Work Breakdown (WB) with variation amounts created by the Head Contractor
See Allocate Variations as a Subcontractor.
Note: Only a Head Contractor can create a variation that adjusts the contract value. Subcontractors can either request variations or create a potential variation depending on the Head Contractor's project settings.
See Request Variations Tab and View/Edit Potential Variations.
Modify WB Amounts
Modify the budget without a variation if the total value of the contract is not changing. The sum of the line items must equal the total contract value.
Why Modify a Budget Without Changing the Contract Value?
Modify WB amounts to:
- Create, delete, or combine Work Breakdown lines
- Allocate or reallocate monies in accordance with existing variations.
See Edit WB Tab of Subcontractor Work Breakdown for instructions.
Variations
- Create Subcontract Variations (SV) to change the contract value of an existing Sub-Tier subcontract
See Variations Overview for Subcontractors for instructions.
- Allocate Prime Contract Variations (PCV) displayed on your Project Home Page
See Allocate Variations as a Subcontractor for instructions.
- Request a new variation by:
- Creating a Variation Request on projects with access to the Variation Register
See Request Variations Tab for instructions.
- Entering a Potential Variation for projects without a Variation Register.
See View/Edit Potential Variations for instructions.
