Understanding Recognition

The Recognition feature enables users to provide kudos to acknowledge the achievements and accomplishments of individuals in the organization.

In addition to words of appreciation to celebrate ones' success, recognitions can also be used to send constructive feedback to provide guidance and help individuals grow. Users can give, receive, and interact with recognitions (or posts) at any time in a central location using fluid tiles.

Managers use the Team Recognition Tile to:

  • Create recognitions for team members.

  • View recognitions that were received by team members.

  • View recognitions that they sent to team members.

Similarly, employees use the Recognition Tile to:

  • Create recognitions for peers and people in the organization.

  • View recognitions that were received by people in the organization.

Employees can decide if they want to view recognitions of their peers or everyone through user preferences.

  • View recognitions that they received.

  • View recognitions that they sent to others.

Users can like, comment, or do both on recognitions. From the More Actions menu, they can edit or remove recognitions or comments that they added, as well as report content that is deemed inappropriate.

Administrators are notified after users report recognitions or comments in the system. They can access the Recognition Administration Tile to review reported content and take appropriate actions.

Recognition integrates with Performance Management to provide access to employee recognitions from performance documents.

When enabled on the Template Definition - Process Page, managers and employees can view recognitions that the employees received as input when they update manager evaluations or self-evaluations.

The system sends out notifications to Recognition users when:

  • Posts are sent.

Notifications sent to: post recipients and recipient's direct managers (if post visibility is set to Employee and Manager). If new recipients are added to posts in edit mode, only they will be notified when posts are updated.

  • Comments are sent.

    Notifications sent to: post recipients.

  • Posts or comments are reported and require review.

    Notifications sent to: administrators.

  • Posts or comments are reported.

    Notifications sent to: post authors.

Users can select notification entries or links to access the corresponding content on the View Recognitions Page (for manager and employee) or Reported Posts and Comments Page (for administrator).

Managed in Notification Composer, users may be able to personalize how (for example, email, in-app, and text) they receive these notifications from My Preferences > Notifications, as configured by the system administrator.
