Measure Areas and Distances Using the Measure Tool
You can use the Measure Tools in Unifier Viewer to identify distances between objects and areas in your 3D models. This reduces the time you need to find information and respond to inquiries.
To view 3D files:
- Go to a project/shell tab, and switch to User mode.
- Select a 3D file from your local system or
In the left Navigator, select any of the following nodes:
- Select Document Manager, and then select Documents.
- Select Document Manager, and then select Unpublished Documents.
- Select Tasks, and open a business process:
- Select the Attachments tab, and then select a 3D file attachment.
- Right-click a 3D file, and then select Open.
- In the 3D Files tab, select a 3D file to open it.
- (Optional) Perform any of the following actions:
- To maximize and view the file, select Fullscreen.
- To show or hide the files in the current folder, select File Type (
).
- To view the revision history, select History.
- To close the 3D file, select Close (X).
- Navigate to the viewpoint you want to view, select Measure (
) in the toolbar, and then select any of the following menu options:
- Distance: To measure the distance between two points in the model.
- Plane to plane: To measure the distance between two facing objects.
- Multipoint: To measure the boundaries and the area of a surface. A multi-point is also known as a polygon.
- On the 3D model, select the points you want to measure. A guide line automatically appears when you start measuring an object. The 90° guide shows you when the line you are drawing is not at a 90° angle to your original point so you can easily see if your line is straight or not.
- To move a point, right-click the point or angle label to display the context menu, and then select Move point. To apply the point, select the new location.
- To remove a point, right-click the point or angle label to display the context menu, and then select Delete point.
- To remove a measurement, right-click the measurement to display the context menu, and then select Delete measurement.
- To help you easily select a point when creating measurements, the following types of Snap points display on a drawing: Corner, Surface, and Edge.
Note: To move or remove a point, you must first finish the measurement.
- To clear measurements, select Clear All Measurements in the Measure (
) drop-down list.
