You can create new data sets, update them, and remove them from the Catalog. Depending on how a data set is created, you can then assign access to it in order to expose it to Studio users.
About creating a data set in the Catalog
You can create a new data set in the Catalog by uploading personal data files into Studio and also by importing and filtering a JDBC data source into Studio.
About updating a data set in the Catalog
In Studio, you can a update a data set that has a source type of Excel, delimited file, or JDBC by using Reload Data set. A reload operation updates a data set to include all records and attributes that have been added, modified, or deleted since the last reload or since the time the data set was created.
Setting attribute metadata in data sets
You can set metadata properties on attributes to make a data set easier to search and navigate. Metadata properties include display names, attribute types, semantic types, tags, and notes. On added to a data set, these metadata values become searchable in the search box of Studio, and the metadata values display as new navigation options in the Catalog's Refine By menu.
About notifications for data set changes
Studio provides a Notifications panel for you to view notifications about the progress of any data set changes you initiated. Notifications can include information about creating new data sets, updates to data sets including refreshes and full data loads, transformations, exports, deletions, and so on.
Managing access to a data set
Users must have access to a data set in order to see it in the Catalog or search results, explore the data, or add the data set to a project.
Deleting a data set
If you have the role of User, Power User, or Administrator, you can delete any data set from the Catalog. If you have the role of Viewer, you cannot delete a data set.
