Use AWR Hub

Use AWR Hub to view the AWR snapshots available for your databases, review their snapshot coverage and retention, and open tools for historical performance analysis.

AWR Hub provides access to snapshots collected by AWR Snapshot Collection and snapshots from databases attached to a Bring Your Own Warehouse.

Use the Warehouse filter to select the snapshot source for database summaries, AWR Explorer, AWR reports, and retention updates. For longer-term analysis and reporting, select a Bring Your Own Warehouse that contains the required snapshots.

Use AWR Explorer to analyze performance data from either snapshot source. For a Bring Your Own Warehouse, you can also use AWR Data Explorer to query AWR views and create visualizations.

Open AWR Hub

  1. Open the navigation menu and click Observability & Management, and then Ops Insights.
  2. In the left pane, click Database Insights, and then AWR Hub.
  3. Select the compartment that contains the databases you want to view. Select Include child compartments to include databases in its subcompartments.
  4. Use the Warehouse filter to select the snapshot source. Leave None selected to view snapshots collected by AWR Snapshot Collection, or select a Bring Your Own Warehouse to view snapshots for databases attached to that warehouse.

For information about enabling snapshot collection or configuring a warehouse, see AWR Snapshot Collection and Bring Your Own Warehouse.

Review and Filter Snapshot Summaries

Each row summarizes the snapshots available for a database in the selected view. Use the database name search and available filters to narrow the list by database type, snapshot count, or snapshot time range.

  • Database name: The database display name. When AWR data is available, use Launch AWR Explorer from the row Actions menu to analyze the database.
  • DBID: The AWR database identifier. This is not the database OCID. Use Copy DBID in the row Actions menu to copy it.
  • Type: The database type reported for the source database.
  • Snapshots received: The number of snapshots reported for the database in the selected snapshot source.
  • Snapshot time range: Coverage from the beginning of the earliest snapshot to the end of the latest snapshot. The coverage does not imply that every interval contains a snapshot.
  • Retention (days): The configured snapshot retention period for the database in the selected snapshot source.

The snapshot time range filter includes databases whose reported coverage overlaps the selected period. It filters database summaries; it does not select the snapshot pair for an AWR report.

Analyze Data and Generate Reports

Use the following actions from the AWR Hub page. Availability depends on the selected snapshot source and the data available for each database.

  • Launch AWR Explorer: Open interactive historical performance analysis. To open a specific database, use its row Actions menu. The page-level action opens an available database in the current scope. For information, see Use the AWR Explorer.
  • Generate AWR report: Generate and download an HTML report with detailed database performance statistics for a selected snapshot range. For instructions, see Generate an AWR Report.
  • Launch AWR Data Explorer: Select a Bring Your Own Warehouse, then launch AWR Data Explorer to query its AWR views. This action is not available for snapshots collected by AWR Snapshot Collection. For information, see Use AWR Data Explorer.

Explorer and reporting actions become available when collected snapshots and the required database identifiers are available. A row can appear before enough AWR data is available to generate a report.

Update Snapshot Retention

Retention changes apply to the database in the selected snapshot source. Select the intended Warehouse filter value before making a change. Changing retention for AWR Snapshot Collection does not change retention in a Bring Your Own Warehouse.

Retention defaults and supported limits differ between databases enabled for AWR Snapshot Collection and databases attached to a Bring Your Own Warehouse. For the applicable defaults and limits, see AWR Snapshot Collection or Bring Your Own Warehouse.

  1. In AWR Hub, locate the database and open its row Actions menu.
  2. Select Update retention.
  3. In the Update snapshot retention panel, review the selected database and enter AWR retention (days) as a whole number.
  4. Click Update retention to submit the change.

You can update retention only after snapshots and the required AWR database mapping are available. If Update retention is disabled, wait for AWR data to become available. The service validates supported retention limits and reports any validation or quota error in the panel.

Enable Collection or Attach Databases

To enable AWR Snapshot Collection, click Enable AWR Snapshot Collection, select a compartment, and click Enable. This enables collection for eligible databases in that compartment. If collection is already enabled, the panel displays a warning and disables Enable. For the collection prerequisites and required monitoring-user grants, see AWR Snapshot Collection.

For databases previously enabled for Ops Insights, apply the additional monitoring-user grants specified for AWR Snapshot Collection in the monitoring-credential script for your database type. For the monitoring-credential scripts and instructions, see:

For a Bring Your Own Warehouse, select the warehouse and click Attach database. This opens the warehouse Databases tab, where you can attach an eligible database. The AWR Hub action navigates to that tab; it does not attach a database immediately. For setup and eligibility requirements, see Bring Your Own Warehouse.

View Legacy Warehouses Before Migration

If a legacy warehouse has not completed migration, AWR Hub continues to display legacy AWR sources and prompts you to view the warehouse for migration. The columns and actions differ from the snapshot-summary view described above. After migration completes, AWR Hub uses the snapshot-summary view and no longer displays legacy-only state and import columns.

If you use an existing AWR Hub Warehouse and need transition instructions, see Migrate Ops Insights Warehouse and AWR Hub to Improved Architecture (Article ID: KB935822).
