Creating a Public Safety and Security Instance

Create a Public Safety and Security instance with the compartment and Identity Domain configuration for the managed environment.

After provisioning, the initial administrator can enable another active Identity Domain user, add that user to Radio Administrators, and verify the replacement administrator before removing the former administrator. See Initial Administrators and Handoff.

Initial Administrator

Select an active user from the Identity Domain associated with the Public Safety and Security instance. During provisioning, Public Safety and Security:

  • Verifies that the selected Identity Domain user exists and is active.
  • Enables the corresponding user for Oracle Radio.
  • Adds the user to the seeded Radio Administrators group.
Note

When you create the Public Safety and Security instance, enter the Identity Domain HTTPS origin only, for example: https://idcs-<unique-id>.identity.oraclecloud.com. Copy the actual Domain URL from the Identity Domain details. An explicit default HTTPS port, :443, is accepted. Don't include credentials, a non-default port, a path, a query, or a fragment. See

If you need help finding the Identity Domain's URL or OCID, see Getting an Identity Domain's Details.

  • Complete Step 1: Prepare the Identity Domain and IAM Policy, including the Public Safety and Security service policy, and have the Identity Domain HTTPS origin, initial administrator Identity Domain user OCID, and target compartment OCID ready. Public Safety and Security manages the authentication applications required for the instance.

    1. Open the Navigation menu, select Oracle Public Safety and Security, and then under Public Safety and Security, select Instances.
    2. Select Create Public Safety and Security Instance.
    3. Enter a display name, and select the target compartment.
    4. Add defined or free-form tags if needed. You can add tags later.
    5. Select or paste the Identity Domain URL.
    6. Select the identity domain user that's the initial administrator user or paste the user's OCID. You can change the administration user later.
    7. Select Create Public Safety and Security Instance to submit the request.

Public Safety and Security creates the instance resource, provisions the initial administrator, and returns a work request for the asynchronous operation. Monitor the work request until the instance is ACTIVE or the operation reports an error.

    Actions

After the Public Safety and Security instance is created and active, open its details page to:
    • Select the User Interface endpoint to access the Radio App. The initial administrator will have access to the Radio App immediately, after the administrator enables your user then you can access the Radio App.
    • Use the API endpoint to send requests to the Radio REST API.
    • Use the instance details to construct the Radio webSocket URL and use the webSocket API.
Select the Monitoring tab to view these metric charts:
    • API requests
    • API latency
    • Bytes sent
    • Bytes received
    • Allocated ECPUs
    • Database storage used
    • Active WebSocket connections
  • Use the following command and the required parameters to create a Public Safety and Security instance.

    oci pss instance create --compartment-id <compartment-OCID> --identity-domain-url <identity-domain-url> --admin-user-id <identity-domain-user-OCID>

For a complete list of flags and variable options for CLI commands, see the Command Line Reference.

  • Run the CreateInstance operation to create a Public Safety and Security instance.
