Managing Oracle Radio Users

Manage Oracle Radio App user access and Radio group membership. User identity details are read from the Public Safety and Security instance's Identity Domain in Oracle Cloud.

Both the Oracle Radio App and REST API methods require radio.user.manage. This Oracle Radio application permission authorizes an administrator to list Identity Domain users, enable or disable their Radio access, and replace their Radio group memberships. It doesn't grant permission to manage the Public Safety and Security instance or modify Identity Domain accounts or groups.

Important

The user marked Super administrator can't be disabled or removed from Radio Administrators, including through a bulk action or replacement of all group memberships. Adding another administrator doesn't transfer this designation. See protected access and administrator handoff.
  • Your user needs Radio access enabled to use the Radio App. The initial administrator's access is enabled when the Public Safety and Security instance is created, then an administrator follows these steps to enable access for other users.

When selected users don't yet have Radio access, the add to group workflow can enable Radio access and add the users to the group in one operation.

    1. In Radio, select Users icon Users.
    2. Use Search users to find an Identity Domain user by name, username, or email.
    3. To change Radio access, select Enable or Disable from the user's Actions menu in the table. In the card layout, select the button directly on the card.
This changes Radio access, not the Identity Domain account.
    4. To review details or change group membership, select Manage from the user's Actions menu in the table, or directly on the card.
Review Directory details and Radio access. These sections distinguish the Identity Domain account from the Radio authorization record.
    5. Under Groups, select the groups for this user and then select Save groups.
    6. To apply the same change to multiple users, select the check box, select Manage all, and then select Enable Radio access, Disable Radio access, or Add to group.
Radio updates only its local user and group-membership records. The Identity Domain user remains unchanged.
  • Use the supported authentication flow. These operations automate the Radio user workflow:

    1. List users and select the intended directory user ID.
    2. Get details to inspect the separate directory and Radio state.
    3. Set status to enable or disable Radio access.
    4. Replace memberships using the Radio user ID and complete desired set of Radio group IDs.

Read the user again and verify the saved access and memberships. These four operations don't create or modify Identity Domain accounts. For settings and how to set up your Identity Domain, see Getting Started with Public Safety and Security.
