Mass Change Resources in Routings Using Public APIs

You can now mass change resources in multiple manufacturing and engineering routings using the Routing Resource Mass Change API. Use APIs in the BOM_RTG_MASS_CHANGE_PUB package to:

  • Add a new resource across routings.
  • Update an existing resource details across routings.
  • Replace a resource across routings.
  • Disable a resource across routings.

You can also:

  • Mass change all routings or choose a subset of routings by item range, item category, item type,  and primary or alternate routings.
  • Schedule the mass change for a future effective date or implement immediately. 
  • Report effective changes for all routings and operations.

To mass change resources in routings using a public API:

  1. Enter information for the Routing Resource Mass Change API parameters. The following example shows a new resource being added to a routing using the API:

  2. Run the Routing Resource Mass Change API . The application then validates the parameters, extract the routings, and matches the parameters that you entered.
  3. Create an ECO.
  4. Implement changes.

The ability to use an API to mass change resources in routings enables you to update and replace a resource detail, a person or an equipment resource in routings. For example,you can update a retired equipment across multiple routings. This reduces the manual effort of finding a resource whereused before changing resources in multiple routings. Prior to this release, resource modifications in routings required manual updates or custom scripts.

You don't need to do anything to enable this feature.

Tips and considerations

  • Set up the resource definitions and associations of resource to department before you use the Routing Resource Mass Change API
  • Select a subset of routings by item range, item category, item type, primary and alternate routings for mass change resources for routings
  • Note that changing alternate Resources in routings is not supported.
