Windows Registry Access Requirement for Smart View Installation
For Smart View to install correctly, the installation process must be able to write to the Windows Registry. This requires that the user installing Smart View has sufficient permissions and uses the "Run as administrator" option during installation. Without these permissions, certain Smart View features—such as drill-through—may not function properly.
The Oracle Smart View for Office installation writes to the Windows Registry.
In order for Smart View to write to the Registry, the following is required:
-
The user account from which Smart View is installed must have permission to write to the Windows Registry.
-
The "Run as administrator" option is used when installing Smart View.
If a user without the appropriate permissions to the Registry installs Smart View, issues can arise with some Smart View operations, such as drill-through.
