Requirements for Data Selection

You must set up data selection so that the data selection is applied to all data type row definitions in the financial statement. You can set up data selection that applies to data row definitions by associating data selection with the row definition, with the statement version, or with both the row definition and the statement version. Data selection that you set up for a row definition applies to that row only. Data selection that you set up for a statement version applies to all data row definitions and column definitions included in the statement definition. To assure that every data row definition will have data selection applied to it, consider associating data selection with data row definitions for only the criteria that are specific to that row definition, and associate data selection with the statement version for all criteria that apply to all data row definitions. For example, you might associate a range of accounts with data row definitions and associate the company and business units with the statement version.

If you neglect to set up data selection that applies to each data row definition, either in the row definition or in the statement version, then the system issues an error message so that you do not generate a statement that retrieves all financial account balances in your system.
