Statement Definition Names and Descriptions

When you set up a statement definition, you enter a statement definition name and description. The system does not allow you to save a record if you enter a single quotation mark (') in the Statement Definition Description field; the character is invalid for the description.

You cannot save a record if you enter an invalid character in the Statement Definition Name field. This list describes the invalid characters for the Statement Definition Name field:

  • Tilde (~)

  • Single quotation mark (')

  • Double quotation marks (")

  • Grave accent (')

  • Exclamation point (!)

  • At (@)

  • Number sign (#)

  • Dollar sign ($)

  • Percent sign (%)

  • Circumflex (^)

  • Ampersand (&)

  • Asterisk (*)

  • Left parentheses(()

  • Right parentheses ())

  • Hyphen (-)

  • Plus sign (+)

  • Equal sign (=)

  • Left bracket ([)

  • Right bracket (])

  • Left brace ({)

  • Right brace (})

  • Vertical bar (|)

  • Slash (/)

  • Backslash (\)

  • Semicolon (;)

  • Colon (:)

  • Greater than symbol (>)

  • Less than symbol (<)

  • Comma (,)

  • Question mark (?)

Note: You can use the period punctuation mark (.) and underscores (_) in the name and description fields. Spaces between characters are allowed for descriptions but not for names.

If you enter a statement definition name or description with a non-supported special character or space, the Revise Statement Definitions form issues an error message. You must modify the characters before you can continue.
