Generate a Presentation Table Description

Use AI to generate descriptions for the presentation tables in your semantic model. A generated table description summarizes the table's business purpose and the information it contains.

Generated descriptions contain meaningful explanations to help authors and business users understand their data. The generated descriptions are based on the business context of your semantic model, including the information contained in related attributes, measures, and object relationships. Oracle Analytics adds the generated description to the table's Description field, where you can review, edit, and save it as part of your semantic model.
For example, suppose your semantic model contains a presentation table named Offices. When you use AI to generate the table's description, Oracle Analytics analyzes the business context of the presentation table and generates a description that summarizes the data the table represents, such as office, department, organization, and company information used for reporting and analysis. The description Oracle Analytics generates may be similar to "Tracks office-related information, including department, organization, and company details, providing context for sales analysis and reporting."
The generate presentation column descriptions feature uses a large language model (LLM) that is registered and activated on your Oracle Analytics environment. Your administrator registers and activates the generative AI service.

  1. On your home page, click Navigator Navigator icon and then click Semantic Models.
  2. In the Semantic Models page, click a semantic model to open it.
  3. Click Presentation Layer Presentation layer icon.
  4. In the Presentation Layer pane locate and double click the table you want to generate the description for.
  5. In the presentation table, click the General tab, locate the Description field, and click Generate Description Generate Description icon.
  6. Optional: Click in the Description field and modify the generated description as needed.
  7. Click Save.
