Undeploy a Semantic Model from a Resource Group

You might undeploy a semantic model from a resource group before you replace it with another model, or to free up resources, remove outdated content, test or troubleshoot issues, or restrict access to data.

After undeploying a model, you can deploy a different semantic model to the resource group.

You can undeploy a semantic model only when your environment supports deploying multiple semantic models. See About Deploying Semantic Models.

Before you undeploy a semantic model, confirm that you have the BI Data Model Author application role. The BI Data Model Author application role gives you access to Semantic Modeler and the ability to create, edit, deploy, and undeploy semantic models.

When you have the BI Data Model Author application role, the Deploy and Undeploy option are displayed for each resource group in the Deployments page. If the Deploy and Undeploy options aren't displayed, then you don't have the required application role. Ask your administrator to grant you the BI Data Model Author application role.

  1. On your home page, click Navigator Navigator icon and then click Semantic Models.
  2. Click the Deployments page.
  3. Hover over or click the resource group with the semantic modeler you wan to undeploy.
  4. Click Actions Actions menu and select Undeploy.
  5. In Undeploy Model Confirmation, click Undeploy.
