Add an Additional Data Layer to a Map

You can add multiple layers to a map visualization to provide more detail.

For example, suppose you have a map visualization that shows product category sales for cities around the world. You can add additional data layers to show the same information for states and countries.

  1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, and select Open.
  2. Click the map visualization to select it.
  3. In the Grammar pane, click Layer Options, click Add Layer, and select Add Data Layer.
  4. From the Data pane, drag and drop a map-related column to Category (Location) in the Grammar pane.
Oracle Analytics automatically renames the new layer based on the column.
  5. Drag and drop any additional relevant measure or attribute columns to Color, Size, or Shape.
  6. Click Save.
