Saving Your Content in the Catalog

In Oracle Analytics you save analytics content such as workbooks, datasets, connections, machine learning models and so on in the catalog. Here, you can store content in either the My Folders area or the Shared Folders area.

My Folders

Use My Folders for draft or private content. Other analytics users can't access this content.

Shared Folders

Use Shared Folders for content that you want other analytics users to access.

If you create a sub-folder to organize your content, the sub-folder inherits permissions from the parent folder, but you can change the permissions. Typically, content consumers have read access, and content authors and administrators have read-write access.

See Share Your Content.

Item Naming Restrictions

When you save items in the catalog:

  • You can't save two items with the same name (case-sensitive) in a folder. For example, you can't have a workbook named "Analyze Vision Data" and a dataset named "Analyze Vision Data" in the same folder.
  • You can't use special characters in item names. See About Naming Restrictions for Items in the Catalog.
