The Template Builder page in the Oracle Cloud Stack console lets users edit a stack template by using graphical tools or by editing the YAML source. Users can also validate, publish, and copy templates.

Depending on how you signed up for Oracle Cloud, you can also access either the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console or the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Classic Console.

Access help for this page, including documentation, tutorials, videos and FAQs.

User profile icon

Access help, accessibility options, console version information and sign-out.

Click to edit the template’s version and description.

Toolbar

Create icon

Create a new template. See Creating a Template.

Open icon

Return to the list of unpublished templates. See Unpublished Templates Page.

Save icon

Save the template.

Copy icon

Create a new template by copying the current one. See Copying a Template.

Cloud icon with up arrow

Publish the template so that it can be used to create cloud stacks. See Publishing a Template.

Cloud icon with down arrow

Export the template file to your local machine. See Exporting a Template.

Trash icon

Delete the template.

Left arrow icon

Undo the previous modification to the template.

Right arrow icon

Redo the previous modification to the template.

Grid icon

Display a grid of horizontal and vertical lines on the canvas area, behind the resources and connectors.

Snap to grid icon

Rearrange the resources on the canvas area so that all of them are positioned on the intersections of the horizontal and vertical lines of the grid.

Straight connector icon

Display all connectors on the canvas area as straight lines (rays).

Pipe connector icon

Display all connectors on the canvas area using multiple lines (pipes).

Sort resources icon

Rearrange the resources on the canvas area based on their dependencies.

Zoom select box and buttons

Zoom in and out on the canvas area.

Check box icon

Validate the syntax of the entire template. See Validating a Template.

Command prompt icon

Open the template in the online YAML editor. See Editing Template Files.

Template Elements

Magnifying glass icon X icon

Enter a text string and click Magnifying glass icon in order to search the template for the string and then display a list of matching resource types and matching template elements (resources, parameters, attributes, conditions, and so on). Click one of the items in the search results to navigate to that element within the template.

Click X icon to clear the search results.

Right arrow

Click this icon to the left of each type of template element (resources, parameters, parameter groups, and so on) in order to display a list of elements of this type within the template. Click the icon again to hide the list of elements.

Plus icon

Click this icon to the right of each type of template element (resources, parameters, parameter groups, and so on) in order to add a new element of this type to the template. Refer to the following topics:

Down arrow with letters icon

Click this icon to the right of each type of template element (resources, parameters, parameter groups, and so on) in order to sort the existing elements of this type alphabetically. Click the icon again to sort the existing elements reverse alphabetically.

Pencil icon

Click this icon to the right of each element in this template (resources, parameters, parameter groups, and so on) in order to edit the element’s configuration.

Trash icon

Click this icon to the right of each element in this template (resources, parameters, parameter groups, and so on) in order to delete the element from the template.
