Create an Action Table Layout

You can create an Action Table layout that lets you perform collection-level custom action requests in bulk. With this layout, you can update collection-level payload field values for multiple rows and send all the action requests with the single click of a button.

You create an Action Table layout much like you would for a Table layout, but when you choose Action Table Layout as the layout type, you'll be prompted to choose an available collection-level action. See Custom Actions for more about collection-level custom actions.

To create an Action Table layout:

  1. Create a blank Excel workbook using the standard .XLSX file format or the macro-enabled .XLSM format. Other Excel formats (.XLS and so on) are not supported.
  2. Click the cell where you want to locate the custom action table.
  3. Open the Oracle Visual Builder tab from the Excel ribbon, then click Designer to launch the New Layout Setup wizard.
  4. Proceed through the wizard, providing the service metadata document, authentication method, and the business object as you would for a Table layout. See Create a Table Layout in an Excel Workbook for more information about these screens.
  5. When prompted to choose a layout type, select Action Table Layout, then click Next.

    Note:

The Action Table option is only shown if the business object has one or more collection-level custom actions with one or more eligible payload fields.
  6. Choose a custom action from the available collection-level custom actions, then click Next.
  7. Review the Action Table layout details and then click Finish.

The add-in creates an Action Table layout in the Excel workbook that includes column headers for the custom action's payload fields and a placeholder data row.

The Oracle Visual Builder ribbon displays an Action Request Changes menu and an Upload Action Requests command for editing custom action payload fields and uploading action requests. See Perform Actions in an Action Table Layout in Managing Data Using Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Excel.

  8. If required, use the Columns tab of the Layout Designer to add, delete, or reorder payload fields in the layout, as you would for a Table layout.
