If you want to see descriptions of a report’s output columns,
search criteria, and other components, you can view the report definition.
This can be helpful if you want to see exactly how the report
was created or determine if the report meets your needs. You can print
a report’s definition, and you can export the output to a file for
later viewing.
- From the Reports explorer, do one of the following:
- Select a report and click View Definition.
- Open a report, click the Home tab, click Definition, and select View.
The Report Definition window opens.
- To save the output from the report definition to a file
for later viewing, click Export and select
the file type.
- To print the page, perform these steps.
- To preview the page layout page before printing it,
click Print Preview. See Preview a Report.

To configure the page layout, click Page Setup. See Report Designer Page Setup Tab.
- Click Print.
Your computer’s Print window opens where you can select
the destination printer.
- Click X on the top right to close
the Report Definition window.
