Exporting Oracle Unity segments to LinkedIn
To export segments to LinkedIn, you will have to do the following:
After successfully creating, publishing, and running the LinkedIn segment delivery, you can access the segment data by logging in to your LinkedIn Ad account, where you can then set up your advertising campaign.
Create a LinkedIn destination
The first thing you will to do is create a LinkedIn destination.
To create the LinkedIn destination:
- Click the Oracle icon
in the bottom-right corner to open the navigation menu.
- Select Destinations.
- In the top-right corner, click Create destination.
- Use the drop-down list to choose LinkedIn Matched Audiences:
- Enter the information for the destination.
- Type: Use the drop-down list to select LinkedIn Matched Audience.
- Name: Enter a name. The name must be 1 or more characters, up to a maximum of 50. Use only letters (a–z and A–Z), numbers (0–9), underscores (_), hyphens (-), and spaces. The first character cannot be a space.
- Destination ID: The unique system identifier that is auto-populated from the destination name you enter. You can't change this value after you create the destination.
- Description: Enter a description. This field is optional, but it is highly recommended to add descriptions for any entity created. This helps all other users get additional context when using and navigating Oracle Unity. The description can have a maximum of 512 characters with no restrictions on characters used. You can use characters from all languages supported in the language settings.

Before proceeding to the next step of connecting to LinkedIn and selecting ad accounts, it is required to save your destination.
- Clicking Save will let you save the destination and stay on the same page to proceed to connecting to LinkedIn.
- Alternatively, clicking Connect to LinkedIn, the system checks if the destination is saved. If the destination is not saved, a prompt will appear, requiring you to save the destination before proceeding to log into your LinkedIn Ad account.

After you have defined basic details and saved the LinkedIn destination, the next step is to select LinkedIn Ad Accounts. Clicking Connect to LinkedIn button will open a pop-up where the login credentials are to be entered.

After logging in, a confirmation message appears indicating a successful connection and the pop-up will be closed automatically.
Select LinkedIn Ad Accounts
Important: Each LinkedIn login credentials can be associated with only one destination. You cannot create multiple LinkedIn destinations with same set of login credentials
To select the LinkedIn Add accounts:

To add LinkedIn ad accounts, click View LinkedIn Ad accounts.

A side panel opens, with the list of Ad accounts along with its status and Ad account name available for the connected LinkedIn account.

Select one or more ad accounts as per the requirement and click Save to map the Ad accounts to the destination.

On closing the side panel, the selected Ad accounts will be listed under the LinkedIn Ad Accounts section with its Account status, Account name and Account ID.
Note: To select new Ad accounts or deselect existing ones, click Connect to LinkedIn and login with the same credentials that were used while creating the destination.

Save the destination after the LinkedIn Ad accounts are shown under the destination.
Create a LinkedIn segment delivery
After creating and publishing the destination, you can create the segment delivery.
Creating a segment delivery involves the following steps:
- Step 1: Define segment delivery details
- Step 2: Select destination
- Step 3: Select segment
- Step 4: Schedule and notify
- Step 5: Save and publish the segment delivery
To create a new segment delivery:
- Click the Oracle icon
in the bottom-right corner to open the navigation menu.
- Select Segment delivery.
- In the top-right corner, click Create Segment delivery.
The Create Segment delivery page is displayed.
Note: You can open and close the different sections on the page by clicking the Arrow button , or anywhere else in the section heading.
Step 1: Define segment delivery details
The segment delivery details section allows you to define how the segment delivery will display in Oracle Unity.
To define the segment delivery details:
- Enter the details for the segment delivery.
- Name: Enter a name. The name must be 1 or more characters, up to a maximum of 30. Use only letters (a–z and A–Z), numbers (0–9), underscores (_), hyphens (-), and spaces. The first character cannot be a space.
- Description: Enter a description. This field is optional, but it is highly recommended to add descriptions for any entity created. This helps all other users get additional context when using and navigating Oracle Unity. The description can have a maximum of 512 characters with no restrictions on characters used. You can use characters from all languages supported in the language settings.
- Click Continue.
Step 2: Select destination
The Destination section allows you to select where you want to export the segment.
To select a destination:
- Choose the LinkedIn destination you created in the steps above. You can verify the connection by clicking Verify connection.
- Click Select LinkedIn ad account and choose one ad account from the list of mapped ad accounts. Click Save.
- Once the side panel is closed, the selected ad account is shown against the selected destination.
- Click Continue.
Step 3: Select segment
The Segment section allows you to select the segment you want to export for the segment delivery. You can also define if the selected segment to be exported to contacts or companies.
To select a segment:

Search for segments that have been created by entering the segment name. You must choose a segment that has a Hashed Email or GAID personalization attribute. If you choose a segment that does not include a Hashed Email or GAID personalization attribute, you will see an alert asking you to choose another segment.

After selecting a segment, you need to choose the profile type.

After choosing the Profile type, choose the option for segment delivery used to.
You can use the segment delivery for the following purposes:
Add users to new LinkedIn segment
- If you select Add users to new LinkedIn segment, you need to provide a new LinkedIn segment name.
- To map the Oracle Unity attributes to the mandatory LinkedIn IDType attributes, select the relevant Hashed email attribute or GAID from the list of personalization attributes for the selected segment. To edit the list of personalization attributes, you will need to update the personalization attributes selected for the segment before creating the segment delivery. Learn more about Managing segments.
- To further improve the match rate, you can map more attributes and this is optional.
- Review the details for the segment and click Continue.
Append users to existing LinkedIn segments
- If you select Append users to new LinkedIn segment, you need to select one or more existing LinkedIn segments by clicking Select LinkedIn Segments.
- The side panel opens with all the available LinkedIn segments, their status and the dependent Unity’s segment deliveries. You can select one or more LinkedIn segments from the available list and Save.
- Once the LinkedIn segment is selected. You need to map the Unity attributes to the mandatory LinkedIn IDType attributes. Select the relevant Hashed email attribute or GAID from the list of personalization attributes for the selected segment. To edit the list of personalization attributes, you will need to update the personalization attributes selected for the segment before creating the segment delivery. - To further improve the match rate, you can map more attributes and this is optional.
- Review the details for the segment and click Continue.
Remove users from existing LinkedIn segments
- If you select Remove users from existing LinkedIn segments, you need to select one or more existing LinkedIn segments by clicking Select LinkedIn Segments.
- The side panel opens with all the available LinkedIn segments, their status and the dependent Unity’s segment deliveries. You can select one or more LinkedIn segments from the available list and Save.
- Once the LinkedIn segment is selected. You need to map the Unity attributes to the mandatory LinkedIn IDType attributes. Select the relevant Hashed email attribute or GAID from the list of personalization attributes for the selected segment. To edit the list of personalization attributes, you will need to update the personalization attributes selected for the segment before creating the segment delivery. - To further improve the match rate, you can map more attributes and this is optional.
- Review the details for the segment and click Continue.

Note: If you select the profile type as Companies, you will see 3 different purposes of creating this segment delivery: Add companies to a new LinkedIn segment, Append companies to existing LinkedIn segments, Remove companies to existing LinkedIn segments. The steps to configure the above different purposes is same as the configuration steps when Users is selected.
Step 4: Schedule and notify
You will need to configure the schedule and notification settings for the segment delivery.
To schedule the segment delivery and define the notification settings:
- Configure the schedule for the segment delivery:
- Click Recurring to automatically run the segment delivery job on a regular schedule. If a job is still running while the next one is scheduled to run, the next scheduled run will not start until the current one completes. Two scheduled instances of the same segment delivery can't run simultaneously.
- Click On demand to run the segment delivery job as needed.
- If the segment delivery job is recurring, select the Frequency, Start time, and Days it will run.
- In the field for Notify, enter the email addresses of people to be notified when the segment delivery job runs. You can use characters from all languages supported in the language settings. Separate multiple emails with a comma.
- If you only want a notification if the segment delivery job fails, click the Only notify on failure option.
Step 5: Save and publish the segment delivery
After saving the segment delivery you will need to publish the changes before it can run.
To save and publish the segment delivery:
- Scroll to the top of the page and click Save or Save and close.
- Follow the steps for Publishing changes.
When the publishing task successfully completes, the segment delivery can run.
