Enabling The Redwood Experience

When can you expect Oracle to automatically change your environment appearance to the Redwood Experience?

In the upcoming July (24.07) update, Oracle plans to transition all current Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud environments to the Redwood Experience. However, Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud is planned to transition in the (24.06) update.

The transition encompasses the following business processes : Account Reconciliation, Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management, FreeForm, Financial Consolidation and Close, Narrative Reporting, Oracle Enterprise Data Management Cloud, Planning, Profitability and Cost Management, and Tax Reporting.

Is it possible for us to implement this change ourselves before Oracle executes the automatic update for us?

Yes, prior to the forced transition in 24.07 update, customers currently utilizing non-Redwood themes have the option to manually transition to the Redwood Experience. See Configuring EPM Cloud Appearance.

Note:

Oracle recommends its customers to implement these changes and notify their users ahead of Oracle's automatic update scheduled in 24.07.

What are the benefits of the Redwood Experience?

The Redwood Experience presents a contemporary interface, introducing fresh themes and exclusive features for EPM Cloud users. When you switch to Redwood themes, you have the choice to seamlessly transition to Oracle, Custom Light, and Custom Dark themes. As you explore EPM Cloud, you'll notice significant enhancements, including compact headers and simplified navigation for cards and clusters. Moreover, there are multiple platform enhancements such as Dynamic tabs, Forms 2.0, and Dashboard 2.0 to enrich your user experience relevant to business processes. All future platform improvements will be developed exclusively within the Redwood Experience and address customer requests and needs. For more information, see Using The Redwood Experience.

What are the steps to transition to the Redwood Experience?

Switching to the Redwood experience is a quick process, typically taking only a few minutes. Please follow the steps outlined in Configuring EPM Cloud Appearance.

Will there be any functional impact on the features that we use with this transition?

Once Oracle upgrades all EPM Cloud environments that use the non-Redwood themes to the Redwood Experience, the themes outside of the Redwood Experience will no longer be supported. None of your existing functionalities will change. Only changes to the user experience will occur.

Will Forms 1.0 and Dashboards 1.0 be transitioned to version 2.0?

There will be no changes to the form and dashboard versions as you transition to the Redwood Experience. If you were previously on version 1.0, you will maintain that version. Upon migrating to Redwood, you will have the choice to switch to version 2.0.

How does the user experience change upon transitioning to the Redwood Experience theme?

Appearance of all EPM Cloud environments that already use the Redwood Experience is automatically shifted to either the default Oracle theme or the Custom Dark theme based on currently deployed background appearance of the environments. You will also see signifact conveniences while navigating the EPM Cloud environment. See Using The Redwood Experience.

Where can we access additional information to relay to our business users regarding this forthcoming change?

The information on transitioning to the Redwood Experience and accessing its exclusive features can be found here - Using The Redwood Experience.

Is there any functional testing required for our application once Oracle implements this appearance change?

As you transition from the current theme to the Redwood Experience, none of your existing functionalities or settings will be changed, hence no functional testing is necessary. Only changes to the user experience will occur. For more information on expected changes in Redwood, see Using The Redwood Experience.

If we're automatically migrated to the Redwood Experience theme, will we have the option to revert to a non-Redwood theme?

In the 24.07 update, Oracle will upgrade all EPM Cloud environments that use the non-Redwood themes to the Redwood Experience. As a result, themes outside of the Redwood Experience will no longer be supported, so you will not be able to revert to a non-Redwood theme.

Is there an option to opt out of the automatic transition to the Redwood Experience theme?

Customers who are unable to transition can delay 24.07 update being applied to their environments. This is a self-service process. See:

  • skipUpdate in Working with EPM Automate for Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Cloud
  • Skip Updates in REST API for Enterprise Performance Management Cloud

The skipUpdate option can be used for a maximum of three months. Therefore, September 2024 marks the latest month customers can remain on a non-Redwood Theme if they opt to skip updates starting from July 2024.

If an environment is on a one-off patch not getting merged in 24.07 update, the Redwood Experience will be enabled when 24.07 is applied on the environment.

We are a NetSuite customer. Will this change impact us?

As NetSuite utilizes EPM Cloud constructs, the impact will extend to all NetSuite customers.
