Using Narrative Reporting Home

After you create a connection to Narrative Reporting, you can use Narrative Reporting Home.

Note:

The procedures in this topic assume that you have created a connection to Narrative Reporting as described in Creating Connections to Narrative Reporting, and connected, following the procedure in Connecting to Narrative Reporting in Smart View

To use Narrative Reporting Home:

  1. Connect to Narrative Reporting as described in Connecting to Narrative Reporting in Smart View to display Narrative Reporting Home.

    Figure 23-4 shows an example of Narrative Reporting Home.

    Note:

    The example in Figure 23-4 contains a shortcut for Books. This shortcut appears when you have installed the EPM Books extension for Oracle Smart View for Office.

  2. To access tasks that require your attention:
    1. In Narrative Reporting Home, click Incomplete Tasks or click the corresponding The right arrow icon, appears next to each task category link, Incomplete Tasks, Active Report Packages, Recent Items, and Library.

      Each item in the Incomplete Tasks list consists of a link to help you access the task.

    2. In the Incomplete Tasks list, click a task link to open the Task Information dialog box, shown in Figure 23-6

    3. Perform an action:
      • In Task Information, select either a report package link or a specific doclet or supplemental doclet link.

        The report package, specific doclet, or specific Office-based supplemental doclet is opened for you in the correct Office application in the context of the task you selected. For example, if you are in Word, and click a link for a review task in PowerPoint, then the review instance is opened in PowerPoint.

        Non-Office-based supplemental doclets are downloaded to your download directory where you can open them manually.

      • If the doclet shown in Task Information is ready to be submitted, click the Submit button.

    4. To exit Task Information without performing any actions, click the X in the top right corner of the dialog box.
    5. To return to Narrative Reporting Home from the Incomplete Tasks list without performing any actions on tasks in the list, click The left arrow icon in the Incomplete Tasks list
  3. To access active report packages for which you have a responsibility:
    1. In Narrative Reporting Home, click Active Report Packages or click the corresponding The right arrow icon, appears next to each task category link, Incomplete Tasks, Active Report Packages, Recent Items, and Library.

      Each item in the Active Report Packages list consists of a link to a report package for which you have a responsibility.

    2. In the Active Report Packages list, click a link to open a report package.

      The report package is opened for you in the correct Office application in the context of your current responsibility. For example, if you are in Word, and click a report package link for which you have a review task in PowerPoint, then the report package is opened for you in PowerPoint with the review instance ready for you to select in the Report Center.

      Alternatively, to return to Narrative Reporting Home from the Active Report Packages list without opening any report packages in the list, click The left arrow icon in the Active Report Packages list.

  4. To access recently-opened items:
    1. In Narrative Reporting Home, click Recent items or click the corresponding The right arrow icon, appears next to each task category link, Incomplete Tasks, Active Report Packages, Recent Items, and Library.

      Each item in the Recent Items list consists of a link to a report package that you have recently opened and for which you have a responsibility.

    2. In the Recent Items list, click a link to open a report package.

      The report package is opened for you in the correct Office application in the context of your current responsibility. For example, if you are in Word, and click a report package link for which you have a review task in PowerPoint, then the report package is opened for you in PowerPoint with the review instance ready for you work with.

      Alternatively, to return to Narrative Reporting Home from the Recent Items list without opening any report packages in the list, click The left arrow icon in the Recent Items list.

  5. If you have installed the EPM Books extension: Click Books to access the EPM Books panel.
  6. To access the Narrative Reporting library, see Connecting to Narrative Reporting in Smart View.
