Understanding Development Phase Recommendations

Development phases help you establish an appropriate workflow for creating, reviewing, and approving report package content.

You can enable the development phases required for your reporting process and select phases based on the level of collaboration, review, and approval needed for the report package, as follows:

• Enable an Author phase when multiple contributors develop report content and require workflow management and version control.
• Enable a Review phase when the report requires additional scrutiny for accuracy and consistency.
• Enable a Sign Off phase when you require a finalized, approved version of the report that cannot be modified.

Depending on your reporting process, a report package may not require all development phases. For example, a report developed by a small, centralized group might not require an Author phase, so enable only the phases that are required for your reporting process.
