Understanding Report Package Hierarchy Recommendations
The number of sections and doclets within a report package impacts overall usability and performance.
Oracle recommends limiting the number of doclets in a report package to fewer than 100. The service can support larger report package structures, but very large hierarchies can become difficult to manage and may increase the execution time for operations, such as:
- Opening the report center
- Rendering the doclet hierarchy
- Refreshing content
- Merging report content
Follow these recommendations when organizing a report package hierarchy:
- Limit the hierarchy to about three to five section levels.
- Organize the report structure logically and consistently.
- Group doclets by ownership and responsibility rather than size.
- Group related content, content with common formatting, or content intended for the same audience into sections so that reviewers can focus on the relevant subset.
