Applying Best Practices to Microsoft PowerPoint Report Packages
Microsoft PowerPoint presentations are generally larger in file size than Microsoft Word documents and require additional attention during report package design.
Follow these best practices when creating Microsoft PowerPoint report packages:
- Limit embedded images, media files, and unnecessary presentation content.
- Prepare a concise style sample. For more information, see Designing Style Samples.
- Review individual doclet presentations and remove unused slide masters and layouts, including those copied from other presentations.
- Use lower-resolution images.
- After publishing the report package, download the native PowerPoint presentation and add any large media files to that presentation for distribution. This change occurs outside Narrative Reporting and does not flow back into the report package.
Microsoft PowerPoint can accumulate unused slide masters when content is copied between presentations. Regular cleanup can help reduce presentation size.
