Merging Data Slices

The Merge Data Slices job merges incremental data slices of a cube. Fewer slices improve a cube’s performance. You can merge all incremental data slices into the main cube slice or merge all incremental data slices into a single data slice without changing the main cube slice. You can optionally remove cells that have a value of zero.

To schedule a job to merge incremental data slices in a cube:

  1. From the Home page, select Application, and then Jobs.
  2. On the Jobs page, select Actions, and then Schedule.
  3. In the General step of the Schedule Job page, select Merge Data Slices, enter a name for the job, enter information about when and how often you want to run the job, and then click Next.

  4. In Job Details, select a cube, select whether to merge all incremental slices into the main slice or into a single incremental slice, and select whether to keep or remove cells with a zero value.

  5. Review the details for the job, and then click Finish to run the Merge Data Slices job.

Note:

When you merge incremental data slices, you cannot undo this action.
