Scheduling Jobs to Run Later
To schedule jobs to run later:
- From the Jobs console, click the Actions drop-down, and select Schedule.
- On the General tab of the Schedule Job
page, specify the following:
-
What type of job is this?: Select one of the job types listed. For more information on job types, see Job Types.
-
When do you want to run this job?: Select the date and time when you want the job to run.
Schedule starting from: Select the starting date and time, including the time zone.
-
How often do you want to run this job?: Specify the following, and then click Next.
Option Description Name
Enter a name for this instance of the scheduled job. This doesn't have to be the job name that was originally assigned when the job was created. For example, you can enter a name that reflects your scheduling requirement. Suppose you are scheduling an instance of a job that was originally named Refresh Database when it was created. You can name this instance of the scheduled job MyWeeklyCubeRefresh.
After you schedule this job, the name you specify is listed in the Jobs console with a system-generated name; such as MyWeeklyCubeRefresh : Refresh Database, where MyWeeklyCubeRefresh is the name that you entered for the scheduled job and Refresh Database is the name that you originally defined during the job creation.
Recurrence Pattern
Specify the frequency with which to run the job:
- Hourly: See Scheduling Hourly Jobs.
-
By Minute: Set the Frequency for 15 or 30 minutes. The job will start running in 15 or 30 minutes and continue to run at the selected frequency until the ending date and time; for example, if you set the job to run every 15 minutes and the starting time is 3:15, the job will start to run at 3:30, then 3:45, and so on. Jobs cannot be scheduled to run in increments smaller than 15 minutes.
-
Run Once: The job will run once at the starting date and time.
-
Daily: The job will run at the starting date and time and continue to run each day until the end date.
-
Weekly: The job will run at the starting date and time and continue to run each week until the end date.
-
Monthly: The job will run at the starting date and time and continue to run each month thereafter until the end date.
-
Yearly: The job will run at the starting date and time and continue to run each year thereafter until the end date.
End Date
If the job is recurring, select an ending date and time.
-
- On the Job Details tab, select a job from the job list, and
then click Next.
Note:
-
If you're running import or export jobs, you can run up to five jobs at one time.
-
For export jobs, you can specify a unique output file name for each job. From the jobs list, click Edit next to the selected job and specify the output file name with a zip extension. The unique file name you specify will override the default export file name when the job runs.
