User Variables
User variables help you to focus on members that you are interested in, such as your department's expenses. For example, you can create a form with entities on the rows and a user variable called Department. You can limit the number of rows displayed on the form by selecting a member for the Department user variable, such as Sales, Later, you can select another member for Department, such as Marketing. Before you can open a form, you must set your preferences for the user variables.
The User Variables page lists the user variables that have been
set up for each dimension and the currently selected member for each variable. To select
a member for a variable, click .
Note:
The Dimension column honors the Alias Setting defined in General Preferences. So if an alias name is defined for a dimension, the Dimension column displays that dimension’s alias based on the Alias Table selected. If no alias is defined for the dimension, then the dimension name is displayed.
