Move a Segmentable Activity or a Segment
You can move a segmentable activity or a segment to assign it to a different route, different time, non-scheduled pool, or a bucket to be assigned to a route later. Further, you can move a segmentable activity from the Dispatch Console, Nearby activities flow, or from an activity hint. Regardless of how you move, these activities are moved through the Assignment Assistant.
-
Move a segmentable activity using one of these ways:
- Open the Time view, List view, or Map view in the Dispatch Console. Select the route from which you want move the activity and drag it to another route.
- Go to the Nearby activities flow and try to move an activity.
- Open the Activity Details page and click Move.
- Open the activity hint and click Move. The Assignment Assistant page appears and displays the extra travel time required for the new resource to complete this activity. Be aware that you can see the Move button on the List view, Activity Details page and activity hint only if your administrator has configured it in the appropriate context layout page.
- Review the extra travel time and the suggested time slot on the Assignment Assistant page.
- Select the target route to which you want to move the activity.
- Click Continue.
-
Select one of these options:
- Selected segment only: Only the selected segment is moved.
- All segments scheduled for the day: All the
segments scheduled for the day for the original route are moved. This
option is not available in these scenarios:
- When only one segment of a segmentable activity is assigned on a selected date.
- When the selected segment is the last in the segmentable activity and is the only segment assigned on the selected date.
- All work starting from <selected date>: Starting from the selected date, all the segments assigned to the original route are moved.
-
Click Reassign.
The segments are assigned to the new route—this means, the segments are created wherever necessary. If the move violates any of the applied constraints, a warning message appears indicating the violation. The segments that are created are displayed on the Assignment Assistant main page. You can’t move the newly created segments to the Not Ordered pool on the route details page. This table provides the details of what happens when a segmentable activity is moved from different locations.
Result of Moving Segmentable Activities
When you... What happens... Move a segmentable activity from a bucket to a route
If the destination route has no available time intervals, the application creates one segment of the minimal duration set for the activity type. Move a segmentable activity within the same route or within the same date
The application deletes all the pending segments and recreates them in the new location. The recreated activity segments can have different destination routes, dates, and duration from the initial activity. In addition, the number of segments might also differ.
Move a segmentable activity between non-scheduled pools
The application generates an activity with its segments according to the route constraints. The sequence of segments in a segmentable activity isn'timportant. If one or more segments are moved to different resources, the segments (activities) are performed independently. Reorder a segmentable activity on the same date
The application reorders the segments and recalculates the duration and the number of segments in the route per the constraints. If you select All segments scheduled for the day (N hours fits the resource’s availability) the application calculates and adjusts the segments per the constraints.
