Add a Work Zone in Oracle Fusion Field Service
Work Zones are unique to each company and show how geographic regions are divided for more effective and efficient routing. You must add a work zone, before you can assign resources to it.
- In Fusion Setup and Maintenance, go to Navigator > My Enterprise > Offering Setup. Select the Field Service offering. In the Scheduling and Dispatch functional area, select the Work Zones task. The Work Zones page displays all the work zones you've created so far.
-
Click the plus icon.
The Add Work Zone drawer opens.
-
Complete these fields:
- Name: Enter a name for the work zone. All supported languages are listed.
- Label: Enter a unique identifier for the work zone. This identifier is mapped to the REST API. The Work Zone identifiers must be unique. If you've used the identifier for another work zone, the error message: Key {identifier} conflicts with key {identifier} of Work Zone {work_zone_name} is displayed.
- Enabled: Move the slider to enable the work zone. The work zone is disabled by default, you must enable it to assign it to resources. Disabled work zones or any of its locations aren’t considered by Routing to route activities.
- Organization: Select the organization to which
the work zone belongs. For example, if you operate in different
countries, select the organization that's specific to the country in
which the work zone is located.Note: Work zones must maintain unique keys, regardless of the organization they belong to. This means that even if two work zones are related to different organizations, they can't share the same key.
- Delimiter: Choose whether commas separate locations in the Work Zone Keys list or each location appears on a new line.
- Work Zone Keys: Enter the work zone key values, which will positively associate an incoming activity with a particular Work Zone. These values must be within and formatted as defined by the overall Work Zone Key field.
- Work Zone Shapes: If used, enter the shape identifier. You define the property serving as the shape identifier while configuring the shape using the Metadata API. For example, if you’ve used ZIP code as the shape identifier, enter one or more ZIP codes associated with Work Zone shapes. Work Zone shapes are used as visual representations of Work Zones on the map and, as a tool for yet more subtle definition of Work Zones. For example, if the company chooses to define its Work Zones by city names or postal codes the Work Zones may be rather large. At the same time, several shapes can be attached to the Work Zone dividing it into geographically smaller areas. This way, one team can work in one shape and another team – in another shape while still working in the same Work Zone.
-
Click Add.
The work zone is saved.
-
To edit a work zone, click Edit on the Work
Zones page.
The Edit Work Zone: [Work zone name] drawer opens, which is similar to the Add Work Zone drawer.Change the values as required and click Update. Current activities are recalculated per the changes. Any future activities will be routed according to the newly edited work zones. For precautionary reasons, you must change the work zones outside of the application’s peak usage time.
