Add an Activity to a Shift in Oracle Fusion Field Service

You can add an activity to a shift, when you want to add the activity to the calendars of all the resources that have the shift assigned to them.

  1. In Fusion Setup and Maintenance, go to Navigator > My Enterprise > Offering Setup. Select the Field Service offering. In the Scheduling and Dispatch functional area, select the Shifts and Schedules task. The Shifts page displays all the shifts you've created so far.
To use Fusion Setup and Maintenance, you must have either the ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_JOB role or a custom role containing duties from ORA_FFS_FIELD_SERVICE_APPLICATION_ADMINISTRATOR_DUTY.

You must enable the Permission Group Job Roles through the Security Console to allow access to these configuration pages. This applies to users assigned to the Field Service Manager or Field Service Application Administrator roles. Due to a known issue, you must manually enable Permission Groups for the Job Role through the Fusion Applications Security Console. Ensure that the user account being used has the required Job Role assigned. Sometimes, existing users with the required Job Role might still not receive the appropriate permissions until the role is manually removed and re-assigned. After completing the steps above, it might take about 10 minutes for the changes to become effective.

  2. For the required Regular activity, go to the Action column and select Activity Templates.
  3. On the Activity Templates page, click the plus icon.
The Add Work Schedule Item drawer displays with two tabs—General Settings and Recurrence Settings.
  4. Complete the applicable fields on the General Settings tab:
    • Activity Type: Select the type of activity to which you want to associate this shift.
    • Time Slot: Select the time within which this activity can be started.
    • Start Date: Select the date from which the shift-activity type mapping starts.
    • End Date: Select the date on which the shift-activity type mapping ends.
    • Duration: Select the hours and minutes that the activity lasts.
  5. Select a value for the Recurrence field on the Recurrence Settings tab:
    • Repeat everyday: Select this option to apply the shift everyday without exception.
    • Repeat daily: Select this option to include the shift every other day or every 3rd day. Enter a value in the Days Between Occurrences field.
    • Repeat weekly: Select this option to use the shift on a regular weekly pattern. Select the days of the week that apply to this shift. Enter a value in the Weeks Between Occurrences field to include the shift every other week or every 3rd week.
    • Repeat yearly: Select a date range for the shift that will recur every year.
  6. Click Add.
The activity type is added to the shift.
  7. To edit the activity type added to a shift, click Edit on the Activity Templates page.
The Edit Work Schedule Item drawer opens, which is similar to the Add Work Schedule Item drawer. Make the changes as required and click Update.
