Resource Work Zones in Oracle Fusion Field Service
Work zones define the geographic areas in which resources can perform activities. You can use the Work Zones tab on the Resource Calendar page to manage the work zones assigned to an individual field resource. The Work Zones tab displays permanent and temporary work zone assignments that aren't archived. A work zone assignment is archived when its end date is in the past.
You can use Smart Search to find an assigned work zone on the Resource Calendar page. You can also add, update, and remove work zone assignments. You can configure a daily or weekly recurrence for a work zone and specify how often the assignment repeats. For weekly recurrence, you can select the days of the week on which the assignment applies.
Difference between a temporary work zone and an archived work zone
Temporary Work Zone: A temporary work zone has start and end dates. While a temporary work zone is active, it overrides the resource's regular work zones. This can affect routing, activity assignment, and capacity. For example, a resource who normally covers one service area can be assigned temporarily to another area during a period of increased demand. When the temporary assignment ends, the resource's regular work zones apply again.
Archived Work Zone: An archived work zone is a work zone that has its end date in the past. Archived work zones are no longer available for normal use and the Work Zones tab doesn't display archived work zones by default. This is because the Exclude Archived search filter is selected automatically when the page is displayed. To view the archived work zones, remove this filter and search again.
When you edit an existing assignment, you can't change the assigned work zone. You can change other assignment information, such as its ratio. Further, the same work zone can't have overlapping date ranges for a resource. If an assignment already covers part of the required period, update the existing date range instead of creating an overlapping assignment.
