Create an Attachment Property to use with Fusion Attachments
You can create an Attachment property to use with Fusion Attachments when you want mobile workers to upload multiple photos for an activity and associate those photos with the related Fusion Service or Maintenance work order. You can also use the Attachment property to let users view and download attachments that were added to the related work order in Fusion Service or Maintenance Cloud. Fusion attachments support documents and images. In Oracle Fusion Field Service, users can take photos and upload them to Fusion Attachments. Files that originate in Fusion Service or Maintenance Cloud, including non-image files, can be viewed and downloaded in Oracle Fusion Field Service when they’re associated with the related work order. Oracle Fusion Field Service supports preview for photos and PDF files; other file types are displayed with a file icon and can be downloaded.
Prerequisites to enable attachment creation between Fusion and Oracle Fusion Field Service:
- The integration between Fusion Service and Service Logistics in Oracle Fusion Field Service must be configured.
- If work orders are not synced between Fusion and Oracle Fusion
Field Service, attachments will not be created on the Fusion
side.Note: You still need an Application when working in Oracle Field Service environments or with OCI Object Storage.
Limitations
Review these limits and considerations before configuring an Attachment property for Fusion Attachments:
-
Number of attachments: Fusion Service doesn’t impose a hard limit on the number of files that can be attached to an object. The practical limit is generally governed by the purchased Content Server storage. In Oracle Fusion Field Service, there isn’t a strict count limit for attachments, but uploading many high-resolution images can affect activity performance. The Attachment form element validation range supports a maximum of 20 images for an upload requirement.
-
Fusion Service file size: The maximum attachment size for Fusion Service is controlled by the
FND_FILE_UPLOAD_MAX_SIZEprofile option. The default value is 2 GB at the site level. The limit can be decreased but not increased. Oracle recommends uploading smaller attachments for better performance. -
Oracle Fusion Field Service photo resolution: Oracle Fusion Field Service controls photos by resolution rather than by an individual file-size setting. Configure the minimum and maximum photo resolution in the Attachment property. These settings help control traffic volume and upload time. If a mobile device captures a higher-resolution photo, the application compresses or downscales the image according to the configured parameters.
-
Mobile device gallery access: The out-of-the-box Attachment property supports taking photos from Oracle Fusion Field Service. Uploading images directly from the mobile device gallery isn’t currently supported.
-
Non-image attachments from Fusion: Non-image attachments that originate in Fusion Service or Maintenance Cloud can be visible in Oracle Fusion Field Service, associated with the related work order, and downloaded for use. Photos and PDF files can be previewed; other file types are displayed as files and can be downloaded.
-
Non-image attachments in Object Storage: Non-image attachments stored through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage aren’t expected to be visible in Oracle Fusion Field Service unless they were attached from Oracle Fusion Field Service.
To perform the required configuration, you’ll need access to:
- Oracle Fusion Field Service
- Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Identity/IDCS for the tenancy associated with your Fusion Applications
To configure the application in OCI Identity domain
- Go to
- Copy the domain URL. You'll need it when configuring Field Service.
- From your domain, navigate to Integrated Applications.
- Click Add Application and fill in the required details.
- Add scope: Search for Oracle Applications Cloud (Fusion).
-
If you can’t find it, verify that you're using the correct OCI tenancy.
-
Copy the highlighted scope value for use in Oracle Fusion Field Service later.
-
After creating the Confidential Application, activate it and copy the Client ID and Client Secret.
