Using Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

When you connect your device to a compatible vehicle, you can access essential route and activity information from the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application through Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. This extended application shows only the information you need while driving.

Prerequisites

To use Oracle Fusion Field Service with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, make sure you have:
  • Android or iOS version of the Oracle Fusion Field Service application on the January 2026 or later release.
  • A vehicle that supports Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
  • Oracle Fusion Field Service 25D or later.
  • Location permission on your device set to Always Allow.
  • An active route.
  • Ensure that your organization’s security or network policies do not prevent mobile workers from connecting the Oracle Fusion Field Service app to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
  • Apple MDM settings must allow Apple CarPlay. This is controlled through the allowCarPlay restriction in the Restrictions payload. Ensure that this option is enabled in your organization’s mobile device management solution, such as Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, or Jamf Pro.

View Route and Activity Information in the Vehicle Interface

When connected to Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you can view key information about your current activity directly on the vehicle display. This information may include customer details, job information, and any actions available to you at that point in your workflow.

Screens Available in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Based on your route and activity status, you might see the following screens on the vehicle display:
  • Open Application Alert: This alert is shown when your session has expired. You must open the mobile application to sign in again.
  • Start Route Screen: This screen is shown when you have not yet started your route.
  • Activity Details Screen: This screen shows information about your current activity and available actions, such as navigation or contacting the customer.
  • Start Activity Alert: This alert is shown when you arrive at the activity location and stop.
  • End Route Prompt: This prompt is shown when all activities for the day are complete.
  • Leave Day Screen: This screen is shown if you are scheduled for a leave day.

Navigation and Communication Options

From the vehicle interface, you can:
  • Start navigation to the activity location using your device’s default Maps application.
  • Call the customer, if a phone number is available.

If required information such as the address or customer phone number is missing, the option appears disabled. In these cases, you are prompted to open the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application.

Use Siri with Apple CarPlay

When using Apple CarPlay, you can interact with Oracle Fusion Field Service using Siri for a hands-free messaging experience. Siri functionality in CarPlay is aligned with the iPhone experience.

You can use Siri to:
  • Listen to unread collaboration messages.
  • Reply to messages using voice commands.
  • Create and send new collaboration messages.

If these conditions aren’t met, the display shows only an alert instructing you to open the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application.

Here are some sample voice commands:
  • Hey Siri, send a message to John in Field Service.
  • Hey Siri, check messages in Field Service.

When you listen to a message, Siri guides you through the reply process, allowing you to respond naturally without needing to interact with the screen.

Considerations for the Availability of Vehicle Interface

The extended interface in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is available only when certain conditions are met. You won’t see route or activity information in the vehicle if:
  • Your route isn’t active.
  • Your session has expired.
  • Location permission on your device isn’t set to Always Allow.
  • The Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application has been force-closed or hasn’t been opened recently.

If these conditions aren’t met, the display shows only an alert instructing you to open the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application.
