Find Nearby Assets and View Asset Information

Mobile workers can use the Asset Details plugin to quickly find nearby assets and view key asset information directly from the route page. This makes it easier to identify assets at or near a work site without searching for each one manually.

By spotting asset issues early, mobile workers can help prevent problems from becoming larger service disruptions, improving reliability and reducing customer complaints. For example, if a worker notices an issue with an asset at the same customer location that is not linked to the current activity, they can search for the nearby asset and create a follow-up activity or work order to address it.

Note:
  • Nearby Asset functionality supports both installed base assets and maintenance assets.
  • For maintenance assets, the Nearby search returns data only for assets in the work center to which the mobile worker is mapped.
  • For installed base assets, nearby search uses the mobile worker’s current location. The mobile worker must enable location services on the mobile device to view installed base assets near the current location.

  • A maximum of 50 assets can be shown in the search results.

Make sure that:

  • Asset Details plugin version 3.0 is installed.
  • The Nearby Assets button is added to the mobile worker's My Route page.
  • The button is configured in the Activity List context.
  • The Asset Details plugin has the required OAuth, API, role, and data-security configuration.
  • The mobile worker has location services enabled on the device when searching for installed base assets.
