Scan an Asset and View Asset Information

Mobile workers can use the Asset Details plugin to scan an asset barcode and view asset information. Barcode scanning helps identify assets quickly and reduces manual entry errors. Barcode scanning works when the asset barcode is mapped to the asset number or serial number.

Make sure that:

  • Asset Details plugin version 3.0 is installed.
  • The Scan and Search Asset button is added to the technician’s My Route page.
  • The button is configured in the Activity List context.
  • The barcode field is mapped to the asset number or serial number.
  • The mobile device allows the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application to access the camera or scanning capability.
  • The Asset Details plugin has the required OAuth, API, role, and data-security configuration.

To scan and search for an Asset

  1. Open the Oracle Fusion Field Service mobile application.
  2. Go to My Route.
  3. Select Scan and Search Asset.
  4. Scan the asset barcode.
  5. Review the asset search result.
  6. Select the asset to view the asset details.
Note: If the barcode scan fails, you can search for assets using other configured parameters such as serial number or asset number.
