Configure Visit Bundling
This section discusses how to configure visit bundling.
Set up the bundling key
Before you use the advanced functions of bundling, you must enable the visit functionality and define the bundling key. To define the bundling key, navigate to
, add or edit a bundling rule and choose parts of the activity fields that are being combined. This value is used as a bundling key value.Set bundling activities for the same customer
To make sure that all activities for the same customer/same date form a single visit (so that they're assigned to the same resource and a single notification is sent to the customer), you may set the bundling key to include Account, Account Number, CustomerID or similar fields.
Set bundling activities for the same location
By default, routing doesn't automatically bundle same location activities as keeping such activities together may lead to increased workflows and decreased travel time. Often Routing may prefer such a combination though. However, you can increase the chance of getting such a preference by adding a bundling key.
For example, to bundle all activities sharing the same day and location by Routing as a single visit (and if this isn't possible, then return them to the bucket so that a dispatcher can assign them manually), follow these steps:
- Set up the bundling key using the Address field.
- Open the routing plan you want to edit.
- Change all the activity filters by selecting each activity filter, choosing Settings, and then changing the Bundling policy to All or None.
- In the Assignment Parameters section, set the Handling of preassigned activities to Move activities between resources routes and reorder within the same route.
- Make sure that activities covered by Preassigned activities filters have the Possible routing actions set to Unschedule and move to the routing bucket.
