Configure an Assignment Rule for Routing

Once you have added a filter as an assignment rule in a routing plan, you can configure additional settings that affect how the Oracle Fusion Field Service Routing processes the filtered activities.

Note: Evaluate these settings carefully before changing them. They add constraints to the routing process that can significantly limit the number of activities assigned to routes.

To configure an assignment rule:

  1. Navigate to the Routing Profiles page and find the routing plan that you want to update.
  2. Select the Routing Plan and click Modify.
  3. Expand the Filters section of the Edit Routing Plan page.
  4. Find the rule that you want to configure and click Settings.
  5. Select options for this rule based on your business goals and click Submit:
    • Late arrival penalty: Choose how heavily routing should weigh lateness when assigning activities. Options range from minimalto highest. Review the inline help text for each option to choose the weighting that best fits your goals.
    • Assigning activities which are about to be late: Define a lateness tolerance for the application to accommodate when assigning new activities to resources.
Note: For preassigned activities, use the Do not assign activities with more than X minutes overdue option with a high X value (for example, 1000). Do not use the option Assign activities even if resource is unlikely to arrive inside time slot.
    • Cost of not assigning an activity: Set how strongly the application should try to assign activities that meet this rule’s conditions. A higher cost discourages leaving activities in the bucket.
Note: If too many activities remain unassigned at the normal setting, test your results with the high or highest setting.
    • Allow rescheduling of activities from one day to another within routing plan period:Use this option to allow rescheduling of activities in segmentable activities routing plan. When selected, only activities with this option enabled are eligible for rescheduling during the routing run. For example, in a five-day segmentable plan, an activity scheduled for day 2 may be moved to days 3, 4, or 5. If rescheduling fails, the application displays an appropriate message.
