Locate Nearby Resources

You can use Collaboration to quickly locate resources near you or near another selected resource. This is useful when you need to reach out to nearby team members for assistance, coverage, or coordination.

If your administrator has enabled the “Allow initiation of chat with all visible resources” option for your user type, you can not only see nearby resources but also start chats with them directly even if they are not part of a Collaboration Group or Favorite.

Note:
  • A dash (–) in the selection box indicates that some, but not all, nearby users in that bucket or org unit are selected.
  • Only the chat initiator can add nearby users to an ongoing group conversation. Other participants can add members only from their Collaboration Groups.

This capability makes it easier for dispatchers and supervisors to communicate instantly with mobile workers in the area without creating new Collaboration Groups.

  1. Open the Collaboration window and click the new conversation icon This image shows the New conversation icon..
  2. Click Who’s Nearby.
    The Nearby window opens with:
    • A list of users whose latest geo location uploaded to the application is close to yours is displayed under Based On Your Physical Location sub-header.

    • The users are arranged according to their distance from your location. Distance is displayed on the right side of the contact name. Users who are within 1000 KM (or Miles, as defined for Distance measurement units on the Business Rules page) range from your current location are considered.

    • Initially, ten closest users are displayed. You can click show more to view more users. Be aware that you can see only those users to whom the you have the permission to chat. This screenshot shows the Nearby section:
