How Mobile Workers Use Workflows

Mobile workers interact with the workflows directly on their mobile device within the activity details.

  • Dynamic Workflow Calculation: When mobile workers start an activity, Oracle Fusion Field Service automatically and dynamically determines which workflow applies based on pre-defined conditions.
  • Step Panel Interface: On your Activity Details page, a special workflow panel shows all required steps, clearly distinguishing between completed, current, and upcoming steps. Mobile workers can simply click the current step, enter any required data (forms, readings, signatures), and submit to progress.
  • Locked After Start: After a mobile worker begins an activity, the associated workflow cannot be changed mid-stream.
  • Template Consistency: For repeat activities, such as routine maintenance, workflow templates ensure that each occurrence is handled identically.
  • Segmentable Activities Handling: If an activity is broken into multiple segments, such as, a multi-leg service call, all segments adopt the same workflow defined at the master activity level, maintaining consistency throughout the entire job.
  • Compliance Enforcement Rules: Workflows often include rules that enforce mandatory completion of tasks or forms, such as, safety checks. Mobile workers cannot proceed with the job until these mandatory steps are satisfied.
