Best Practices for Forms with Validation Rules
When designing forms that contain validation rules, use these guidelines to optimize performance.
-
Include Dense dimensions on rows and columns, and Sparse dimensions on page and POV
-
Limit the number of dimensions on a row. Including multiple dimensions on a row will negatively impact performance.
-
Select the Suppress Missing Blocks option when Sparse dimensions are on rows.
-
Reduce the number of Business Rules set to Run on Save
-
Use the outline to add Member Formulas instead of including Formula columns in the form
-
Ensure that Business Rules and Smart Push update unique data
-
Limit the number of rows to approximately 100 rows or less
-
Use member functions instead of selecting individual members to reduce maintenance
-
Leverage dynamic user variables, substitution variables and valid combinations instead of creating a large number of forms
-
Organize forms into folders
