Joint Venture Accountant

To set up a joint venture accountant user, create a custom role from a copy of the following roles, and then add the custom role to the user's profile:

  • Joint Venture Accountant (ORA_JV_JOINT_VENTURE_ACCOUNTANT_JOB)

  • Employee (ORA_PER_EMPLOYEE_ABSTRACT)

The privileges in this role allow users to run ESS processes.

In addition to setting up a custom role for joint venture accountant users, you must also configure business unit access for a joint venture accountant user and role. This is because the joint venture accountant user creates accounts receivable invoices to recoup the joint venture costs from the joint venture partners. This requires access to the business unit for the joint venture, which enables the joint venture accountant to run an ESS process that generates invoices for the business unit.

To configure business unit access for a joint venture accountant user and their role:

  1. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance and select the Enterprise Profile functional area under the Financials offering.
  2. In the task list on the right, click Manage Reference Data Set Data Access for Users.
  3. Click the Users with Data Access option.
  4. Click Create and enter the following values to configure business unit data access:
    • User Name

    • Role

    • Security Context. Enter Business unit.

    • Security context value. Enter the name of the business unit for which invoices will be created, for example Vision Operations.

The results should look similar to the following example, which shows a record with the following details:
    • User Name = jvacct
    • Role = Joint Venture Accountant
    • Security Context = Business Unit
    • Security Context Value = Vision Operations
This images shows the Manage Data Access for Users page with an example record, which is described in the surrounding text.
