Deploy Required Descriptive Flexfields (DFFs)

You must deploy the required flexfields even if they aren’t used in your configuration.

Important:
Before deploying the EXM_EXPENSES flexfield, ensure that it has at least one defined segment. If it has none, create a placeholder segment:
  1. On the Manage Descriptive Flexfields page, search for the EXM_EXPENSES flexfield, select it, and click Edit.
  2. On the Edit Descriptive Flexfield page, click Create in the Global Segments section.
  3. Enter the required values for the segment, then click Save and Close.

You can hide the placeholder segment after deployment if you don’t need to make it available to users. If you no longer need the segment, you can delete it. Deleted segments can’t be recovered. See Manage Global Segments for more information.

Here's how you can deploy the required descriptive flexfields:

  1. In the Setup and Maintenance work area, go to the Manage Descriptive Flexfields task.
  2. Search for EXM_EXPENSES, select the flexfield, and click Actions > Deploy Flexfield. Confirm when prompted.
  3. Search for PROJECTS_STD_COST_COLLECTION, select the flexfield, and click Actions > Deploy Flexfield. Confirm when prompted.
Note: You must deploy the Projects flexfield regardless of whether you require project and task information on expenses. No segment configuration is required.
  4. After deployment completes, select Actions > Flexfields Business Object Synchronization Status, and wait for the APM_DEPLOYMENT_DEFAULTED status to appear.
Note: Redeployment of the Projects flexfield can take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
