Content Types and Applications

Each content type is specific to a single application. When you define a content type, you select the application that it belongs to. Content types that belong to Service are available to Service Center.

Note: Applications are also called departments in some contexts.

Remember that in order for content types to be useful in Service Center you must also set privileges for authors, and define user groups for agents and self-service users:

  • Authors must have the right content type privileges for the types of articles they need to create and update

  • Articles in Service content types must have the correct user groups assigned.
