How do I use the Absences features?

Not all companies support all the functionality, absence types or absence plans shown here, so consult your company’s policies for how your absence plans and types work.
Start on the Home page.
To add an absence, use the Quick Action, or click Time and Absences.
Click Time and Absences.
Click Add Absence.
Here you can review the policies and FAQs for the different types of absences.
Click Continue Without Journey.
After you enter the absence type, you can see the absence balance for that type.
In the Absence Type field select Time Off.
Highlight Absence Type Balance.
The application can support both elapsed based and time-based schedules. With the time-based schedule, when you select a day off, it automatically populates the scheduled start and end times for each day of the scheduled absence. With elapsed-based schedule it would simultaneously populate the scheduled duration.
In the Start Date field, click the Calendar icon and select November 28.
You can review the individual days for the absences, edit the dates for the absence, add another absence, calculate the absence balance as of the absence date, and add details for the absence if needed. After you’ve added all the information, click Submit.
Click Show Individual Dates.
Highlight the Edit icon.
Highlight the Add button.
Highlight the Calculate link.
Highlight the Details field.
Click Submit.
Click Add Absence.
Click Continue Without Journey.
Absence reasons might be required depending on the type of absence you’re taking.
In the Absence Type field select Sick.
In the Start Date field, click the Calendar icon and select today’s date.
Click the Details drop-down list.
Click to close the Details drop-down list.
Attachments and links can also be added, and made optional or mandatory, depending on the type of absence.
Highlight the Attachments and URL fields.
Click the More Actions icon and select Cancel.
Click the Go back icon.
Click Absence Balance.
Use the Absence Balance page to view your current absence balances for the various plans. In this case, you have two accrual plans, Sick and Vacation, as well as a Compensatory Time Plan and a Volunteering plan. You have the option to view your balances based on the last calculation date or as of today’s date. You can drill down into any absence type for more details.
Highlight As of Today and Last Calculation Date.
Click the Sick link.
The Summary displays the plan balance, including how much carried over from last year and how much has accrued.
Highlight the Balance as of and Summary sections.
The Details section displays the specific days and durations of each sick absence. The Year-End Details displays the balance that’ll be carried over, and how much will be forfeited if not used in the plan year.
Highlight the Details section.
Highlight the Year-End Details section.
Click the Go back icon.
Click the Go back icon.
Click Existing Absences.
Open the Existing Absences page to view all your absences for the current year and their current status, including scheduled, completed, and awaiting approval.
Click the Date filter.
You can search for an absence from any time period or specific date.
Click to close the Date filter.
You can search for a specific absence type or status, and sort the absences as needed.
Highlight the Search by Type field.
Click the Status filter.
Click to close the Status filter.
Click the Sort By field.
Click to close the Sort By field.
You can also add a new absence directly from this page.
Highlight the Add Absence button.
Click the Go back icon.
Use the Donations page to donate a portion of your plan balance to a coworker.
Click Donations.
This page displays the existing donations you’ve made. You can add donations as needed.
Click the Add Existing Donations icon.
Select the date you’re making the donation, the plan you’re donating from, who you’re donating to, and the amount of the donation.
In the Business Title field select Product Design Engineer.
In the Plan field select Vacation.
In the Recipient Type field select Individual.
In the Recipient field select Felicia Nurse.
In the Donation Amount field enter 5.0.
Click Save.
Click the Go back icon.
Click Cash Disbursements.
Use the Cash Disbursements page to “sell” or disburse a portion of your absence balance for payment. For example, if you have a vacation balance but can’t take vacation before the end of the year, you can request a disbursement rather than forfeit your time.
Click the Add Existing Disbursements icon.
Select the date you’re requesting the disbursement, your title, the plan you’re requesting the disbursement from, and the disbursement amount.
In the Date field, select today’s date.
In the Business Title field, select Product Design Engineer.
In the Plan field, select Vacation.
In the Disbursement Amount field, enter 40.
Click Save.
Click the Go back icon.
Use the Team Schedule page to view your team’s schedule and any of their scheduled absences.
Click Team Schedule.
This page displays your team’s shifts, overall availability, absences, and upcoming holidays. You can search for a coworker by name or by shift, and view the next or previous weeks as needed.
Highlight the Search field.
Highlight the Next and Previous icons.
Click Show Filters.
Use the filters to change the view on the Schedule page, such as displaying public holidays, various schedule views, and a view of absences. You can view the schedule for a specific day, as well as include a view of your manager’s schedule.
Highlight the Type options.
Highlight the Date field.
Highlight the Line Manager option.
