How do I view business object details?

Start on the Home page.

The View Business objects task is essentially the data dictionary of HDL.

Click My Client Groups.

Click Data Exchange.

Click View Business Objects.

If you’ve configured any flexfields, we recommend refreshing the object map by selecting the object and clicking the Refresh Object button.

In the second field, enter location and press Enter.

Click to select the Location business object.

Click Refresh Object.

When you submit the task, the app builds the map of the attributes available to that object.

Click Submit.

Click OK.

Click Refresh to update the data.

Click Refresh.

You can confirm the object has been refreshed when you see today’s date shown here.

There are 3 ways to find out about this object. The first is to look at the template file.

In the Location row, Template File column, click the Download icon.

Click to open the .dat file.

Use the template file to download the metadata lines to access the supported attribute names. We highly recommend removing attributes you don’t use from this file.

The second, and more effective way to find out about this object is to click the object name.

Click the Location link.

This page displays details about the object including its description, supported actions, date effectivity, and the file you need to supply data in.

Click to collapse the left navigation pane.

Click Attributes.

The Attributes page displays all the attribute names that can be included in the file. The Label and other information appear in the session language, including the Description, which will help you understand how to supply valid values. The data provides several different ways to identify a record – a surrogate ID, a user key, or one of the two integration keys. The parent surrogate ID and surrogate ID attributes often appear to be required; however, you can supply that attribute or one of the other key types such as one of the integration keys or user keys.

Click to select the LocationID attribute.

You can identify look up validated attributes. Go to Manage Common Lookups to find the valid values to supply.

Click to sort by Lookup.

If the attribute supports flexfields, the Flexfield Attributes tab will be visible.

Click Flexfield Attributes.

Filter by Context and then click Search to see all the available attributes.

Click the Context drop-down list.

Click to close the Context drop-down list.

Click Restore Pane to open the object hierarchy.

Open the object hierarchy and click any object to view its details.

Click Back.

You can download all this information in the Overview file.

In the Location object row, Overview column, click the Download icon.

Click the Home icon.

To view the Overview ADFDI spreadsheet, you’ll need to download and install the Desktop Integration Installer. Please note, this add-on is only available for Windows.

Click the Navigator icon.

Highlight Download Desktop Integration Installer.

Click to close Navigator.

In the browser, click the download icon.

Click the GenericBusObjDetails.xls file.

Click Yes.
