What are HCM extract delivery options?

Title and music.

Hello, my name is Ken. In this video I’ll explain what are the various delivery options for an HCM Extract.

As part of the Define Extract process, you need to define delivery options.

Delivery Option parameters basically specify the delivery output format, the delivery method, where to send output of a particular format, and other parameters which are required for integration with BI Publisher.

In this example I’ll add delivery options to an existing extract definition to extract person details.

So let’s start by clicking the Extract Delivery Options link.

Now I can enter my delivery option details. Click Add

In the Delivery Option Name field, enter a name.

For the Output Type, there are a variety of types that you can choose from depending on your business requirements.

For this example, I’ll choose Data since I only want to see the XML file with the selected attributes per my Extract Definition.

The Report field is only applicable for output types other than Data or CSV. So, I’ll leave this field blank.

And I’ll also leave the Template Name field blank as it is only required if there is a value for the Report property.

In the Output Name field, enter a name.

Notice both the Extract Delivery Options section and the Additional Details sections.

The Additional Details properties depend on the Delivery Type that is selected in the Extract Delivery Options section.

Let’s say that I change the Delivery Type from None to E-Mail.

You’ll notice that the change is reflected in the Property column in the Additional Details section.

Normally when creating a delivery option you would choose the Delivery Type to support your business needs; however, since for this example I just want to view the XML file and am not delivering any output, I’ll choose None.

In the Additional Details section, you’ll notice the Property rows for my selection.

Since none of these are required fields, I’ll leave them blank for this example to keep things simple.

Click Save and Close.

The extracted data is archived into a results table. It is also stored as an XML output in the database.

This XML output is then transformed into formatted output (such as HTML or PDF) based on what you selected.

Then it is delivered through email, FTP, or some other option depending on the Delivery Options used in the extract definition.

So basically, this is going to extract the output and send it to third-party applications based on your business requirements in the required format.
