Overview of Data Mapping

Policy Modeling allows you to connect Intelligent Advisor entities and attributes to tables and fields in another application. This is known as data mapping.

Data mapping enables you to pre-seed data in the policy model from a connected application and save outcomes to the connected application. This can be useful for:

  • Reusing information you already know about the interviewee, without asking for it again
  • Personalizing interviews (for example, to refer to the interviewee by name)
  • Re-using list values already defined in other location (for example, a list of countries)
  • Saving records to be actioned or resumed at a later point

Data mapping also allows you to dynamically load in additional data (for instance, a product catalog or transaction history information) during an interview.

To data map successfully, it is important to understand the data model of a Policy Modeling project. A containment hierarchy of entities in Policy Modeling corresponds to a hierarchy of tables in the connected application.
